(28/9-09) 15 Elient 1373: All three books!!! and Death By Wythmord
All three books
They have collected the third book of Thoon and decide to take it to the Silver Woods where they read the second book of Thoon. Once there Wythmord , aided by the feat ability of Tealgar, reads the book. Again it shreds revealing a groteque book of blood and Sinew. It contains information of the energies of the plane of madness and its corrupting touch. It will not only corrupt the mind but also the body if enough energy is consumed and that energy will empower that being with enough energy to be considered a deity despite a lack of followers and make the being immortal. In the back of the third book is the last clue: The books have been found, in chains of Law bound. Bring them where they used to pray and prepare the price to pay...They now know that they must return to the pillar of the gods in the middle of the Araunoroch desert.
It is grim reading indeed. They teleport back to Silverymoon and Taern is summoned. He warns the party about the nature of the plane they are about to visit and tells them that no one have come back from a foray to that foul place. They thank him rest up and Teleport to the Pillar of the Gods..

Death by Wythmord
At the top of the plateau the party sees the statues of the Netherese Pantheon as well as the altar, mirrorlike and perfectly smooth. They can hear lightning and thunder above, and the heavy clouds are omnius looking. Wythmord places the three books on the altar hoping it will produce the desired effect and it does. The books merge and grows as a festering boiling tumor, en the end revealing a grand grimoire of flesh, blood and sinew.
The pages open and glowing runes fills the air, encircling the altar and the altar itself becomes liquid like water.
Suddenly 2 of the Netherese statues crumble, revealing hideous but strangely charismatic fiends. They seem a mix of angelic and demonic creatures. They whisper is hushed voices" Once we were 2 demons, 2 angels!!! Reworked by Thoon, remade by Thoon, re-created to guard and slay" and initiative is rolled.
Tealgar moves into position and attacks a Concordant Killer, but misses!!! The 2 angelic fiends turns invisible and moves closer to their prey. Galahad inspires his friends greatly boosting their attacks and defenses and Wythmord does something that later will prove to be fatal for the group. He casts the 9th level spell End to Strife!!! Just to clarify things End to strife is a poorly worded 3,0 spell but here is what we all agreed on: It does 20d6 in damage to all creatures within its area if they attack, physically and magically. It has no save but spell resistance. The party has no spell resistance but the enemy does. Wythmord manages to penetrate 1 of the creatures spell resistances, but it leaves 1 enemy with the ability to attack the party and each attack by a party-member does 20d6 in damage to themselves. Bad choice indeed!!!
The free concordant killer swarm Wythmord with full attacks and quickened teleport spell like ability. It is intelligent enough and seizes its opportunity to move unhindered through the the combat chasing Wythmord. The other enemy throws spells at itself, boosting it. Galahad and Tealgar try to block the enemy path hoping that Wythmord would be able to dispel it the End To Strife spell or at least heal himself, but with an enemy with its movement options, there is no hiding. For 3 rounds the beast chases the cleric of Lathander, who manages to turn himself invisible, but to no avail. Greatsword slash after greatsword slash hits the cleric, penetrating his body and spilling his lifeblood. Galahad attacks the creature once and receives 50 damage from Wythmords spell, but to late!!!!
Seeing his doom the, soon to be Martyr, cleric pulls forth his enchanted potion which damages evil outsiders. It does damage to the creatures but is is a spell and it does damage and violates the End to strife spell. Wythmord is torn apart by his own spell, but leaving the damaging bottle back on the gorund...
Galahad moves away, wanting to get away from Wythmords body as his death does not end the spell. He succeeds, but so does the 2 concordant killers, invisible they stalk him and tears into his flesh with bone crushing blows. Galahads life ends with his head being forcefully removed from his body by a greatsword. With Galahads death, the reamaining Lawbringer, Tealgar sees that the runes hovering in the air "drinks" the leaving life essence of his friend and suddenly a shattering sound is heard!! The altars surface changes and a foul portal appears. It seems to be feeding on the prime material plane itself, feeding on the energy. They have succesfully opened the portal to the plane of madness, but unfortunately it is with their life essence and not the enemy!!!
Tealgar had moved away in the other direction but fleeing is not an option for the dwarf Battlepreacher( Paladin) and he challenges the 2 fiends to honorable combat. They do not want to see him flee and dismisses their greater invisibility spells welcoming a challenge. Tealgar responds with a dimension door and reappears close to them, teeth barred in an animal snarl. The dwarf is well protected and his blows presice and, to his great credit, actually has them on the defensive inflicting heavy wounds and keeping his body safe behind layers of plate and spell. He is winning!!!!! But fiends do not desire honorable combat.....
The battle is not going to the fiends favor and they decide to take out the pesky dwarf. One invokes a force cage on him and, while laughing, both of them send volley after volley of magic missiles through the dwarfs body. One of the fiends is torn apart by Wythmords enchanted potion belt. But to late!!!! The other dispels the magical potion and continues to assult Tealgar with an unending supply of magical bolts. He dies shouting curses at his enemy (and ME hehe)....
The portal has been opened but the cost had been too high. They are dead and Alioth of the seven circles have warned them that once opened Thoon will stir and his power will grow until he is fully empowered and a deity of the plane of madness....
This is a Tpk and the party has been wiped out!!!!!!

(21/9-09) 15 Elient 1373: Magefair/duel and the third book
Magefair/duel
Having succesfully killed the death giant they loot the caves and finds a strange altar filled with the holy symbols of various death deities. Appearently they worship death and no particular god, they also find the golden coin minted in ancient Narfell which Alioth of the Seven Circles have sent them to fetch. They teleport back to the inn in Nashkel and seek out the innkeeper, who is surprised to see them back in one piece, Alioth had talked of the power of the giants and they should be powerful indeed.
He gives them a letter from Alioth. It says that they shold seek out the market in Easting near Cormyr and there they would have the opportunity to gain the third book of Cambria and the fabled blade of Cambria. They have 3 days. Luckily for the party Wythmord is from Cormyr and the way he traveled led him close to Easting and they rest and teleport to the city.
In Easting, a lazy town, something spectacular is going on!!! Outside of the city another small city have been erected. Over the city illusionary dragons and magical fireworks fills the air. The party nears the camp and are met by a female wizard wearing a robe with web patterns. She challenges the part to demonstrate arcane skills or else the area is forbidden to them. Runegar conjures an orb of flame and Galahad throws himself of a goat-pen and glides to the ground with a feather fall spell. They are allowed a guest and chooses Runegar and Wythmord and are welcomed to the Easting Magefair!!!!
Inside they see magical debates, fireball throwing and magical doors hanging in midair. The gathered wizards are stange and wondrous in attire and demeonor. At the centre of the magefair is a circle, scorched and burned, used for mageduels. A dark skinned wizrd with pink tatoos on his left side of his face stands there waiting for them. He introduces himself as Alioth of the Seven Circles and he is indeed pleased to see them again and says in a deep strong voice " Runegar Darkrift I challenge thou to a duel of the art, i cannot give the foul book away to a lesser mage and thou must prove yourself in magical battle, tomorrow at first light" Then he walks away. Runegar and the rest of the group finds one of the dorrs hanging in midair and Tealgar and Galahad manages to secure a grappling hook in the doorway and climbs up, much to the amusement of the gathered wizards. Runegar flies up and they rest and Runagar prepares for the test of his life, the award is the third book of Thoon!!!!
Next morning they meet at the circle. Alioth tells the master of duels that they wish to do battle and the master, a smelly wild haired fellow with components pierced in his body, shouts to the crow that Mystra has her eyes on the magefair and a duel of spells will commense. They are shown to the center of the circle and the master tells them the rules: They must agree on the area of the arena and how many rounds they are allowed to prepare, in preparation metamagic feats are frowned upon. After that they must spend a round attuning to the circle and then battle commense. Items are not allowed in the arena and all damage in the arena is halved and they receive 1 free counterspell each round!!. Furthermore no participant can die in the arena, all damage is sub-dual!!
They enter the arena and settle with 40 ft apart and 2 rounds of preparation. Runegar casts Time Stop and through it Bite of the wereboar, Spell Turning, Stoneskin, Invisibility greater and Shield. Alioth only casts Spell turning and Heroism, greater.
Initiativ is rolled and Alioth reacts first. Being blinded by Runegars spell he casts True seeing. Just before Runegar is about to react the enemy mage casts celerity and via that cool spell invisibility greater, which Runegar tries to counter with a dispel magic, but fails. Runegar casts a cone of cold at the mage who is hit hard by the freezing spell.
Next round Alioth casts his most treasured spell, dragonshape and turns into a huge red dragon and full attacks Runegar who is lucky he is protected by his stoneskin spell which reduces the damage to a minimum. Runegar uses a spell like ability and casts invisibility purge and the dragon is visible but still protected by the pesky spell turning spell. Runegar tries to dispel the spells covering Alioth but again bad rolls saves Alioths ass.
The next few rounds are practically the same, The now dragon-mage Alioth power attacks Runegar whose Stone Skin begins to waver as the brute attacks him with 6 attacks each round. Runegar, who knows that 2 spell turning fields can be brought low with a lucky spell, casts spell after spell at the dragon!!! And believe it or not he manages to shut down both spells and that was what he had hoped for but perhaps it is to late!! In desperation he summons an elder fire monolith which miss as it power attacks the dragon.
Next round the dragon brings down the stone skin and tears into Runegar with savage blows. The fire monolith manages to score 2 telling blows and even a crit, severely damaging the dragon-mage. Runegar despite being heavily damaged sends Dispel after dispel after the his foe but the rolls are bad, but he manages to dispel his true seing and is again invisible, lucky bastard!!!
The dragon-mage Alioth sees the bleeding wounds on Runegars scarred body and wants to finish the battle. Despite the invisibility the dragon-mage has keen senses and knows where Runegar is and fires his breath weapon, a searing blast of raw flame!!! Runegar wers his trusted full plate and misses his save horribly and the flame eats away the flesh on his bones!!! But Runegar is far from defeated and still draws breath ( 6 hp.) The Monolith hits again twice and now it is the dragons turn to look less than in perfect condition. Runegar is to hurt to do anything and awaits certain "death" next round.
"Death" comes but not for Runegar. Alioth dismisses his dragon shape spell as the tempoary hp from the spell are gone and he cannot cast spells in the form. Then he quickens a Dancing blade spell to better protect himself. Runegar attacks wildly with furious spells and Alioth tries, in vain, to dispel them. In the end he is battered down by the elemental monolith and falls defeated to the ground. Runegar has won!!!!
Runegar walks over to the fallen man and uses a spell like ability and heals the man. He opens his eyes and the dwarf arch-mage helps him up.

The Third Book
Once up Alioth looks at Runegar and the party " You have defeated me and all of you have earned the right to the third book of Thoon and the Blade of Cambria, but beware Lawbringers!!! With the third book the responsibility is yours and remember your oath to destroy the book and if possible Thoon himself" He finds the book and a bastard sword from his enchanted robe. The book they know of but the bastard sword looks different. Its blade is metallic blue and looks strange. He tells them that it is a +3 morphing Bastard sword made from the metal of a fallen star. It cuts through the divine protection deities have, indeed a rare weapon. Then he turns and leave.......

(14/9-09) 13 Elient 1373 : Ataf of Calimshan and saving Galahads soul
Ataf Of Calimshan
Henrik/Tealgar was not present at this session
Back in the mighty city of Silverymoon they regroup, their ally Galahad has been killed and they have been forced to flee with his body. Runegar travels to the library and stays for the better part of the day and night researching the giant. he learns that they are Death Giants, who appeared in the days of Netheril and they worship death. He also learns that they are not outsiders and that the only way to bring Galahad back is to kill the giant possessing his soul. Runegar also fetches a spell he has bought, summon elemental Monolith hehe and returns to the inn. Wythmord is at the inn when suddenly a knock on the door is heard. Outside stands a dark skinned man in a full plate. He introduces himself as Ataf of Calimshan, a warrior in the service of Abu Khalid, High priest of Lathander. He tells Wythmord that his master is currently engaged in a power struggle about the position of high priest in Silverymoon and they have heard of a pious cleric who could be a dark horse in this struggle, Wythmord!!! He then pledges himself to Wythmords cause if Wythmord would meet his master Abu Khalid. Wythmord agrees ( we are missing a NPC in tne effort to rescue Galahds soul).
They start planning the rescue mission and teleport to the giant run mountains.

Saving Galahads soul
Outside the fiendish cave they make ready. Wythmord summons an Iron golem and an elder Earth Elemental. They instruct Ataf to stay back with the summoned crestures and await a signal. Wythmord and Runegar ventures fort invible but lady luck is not with them and they are heard and roars of rage echo through the caverns. Runegar invokes his time stop spell and summons the elemental monolith and casts haste on him and his allies as well as a few protective spells. The elder earth elemental rushes forth protecting the characters. From lower down the 3 death giants rush forward throwing dispel magic at the summoned monsters, and hill giant hiding in the throne room attacks the elder earth elemental summoned by Wythmord. The battle is furious and the elemental monolith is dispelled as well as the elder earth elemental but at least the elder earth elemental damages the hill giants. More dipel magics are thrown at the party and a few protective spells are dispelled but not the pesky invisibility spells.
Ataf enters the fray and quickly kills the two hill giants, skulls split open and knees crushed. The death giant manages to dispel a couple of protective spells from Wythmord and Runegar. Wythmord succeeds in tipping the scales with a wall of force spell, capturing the Death giant leader and one more behind it. The lumbering death giant ,which have not been captured behind the wall, close with the party and swings its huge greatsword at Ataf and hits him, but his elusive target feat saves the day as extra damage from power attack is negated. The giant despite its many hp is quickly killed as Ataf attacks it with wounding weapons and the other throws many a spell at it.
The 2 remaining death giants retreat to the back of the caves hoping to find a better fighting position. Again the party manages to trap the leader behind a wall of force. The leader roars in anger and shouts in common: "parley" but the time has passed for talk, only battle remains. The death giant on the other side of the wall even crits Ataf but assult after assult hits him and soon he stumbles dead to the ground.
The assult on the leader begins with powerful spells and steel. He sponds with heavy blows and almost crits Wythmord but he evades with an item. Then Runegar sends a crackling green ray at the giant, disentegrate. The giant rolls a natural 1 and takes 13d6 in damage also called 132 hp auch!!! That practically ends the combat as he also is hit by a blood to water spell and Atafs wounding mace. He dies!!!!

(7/9-09) 10 Elient:Alioth of the Seven Circles and the death by Death giants
Alioth of the Seven Circles
Tealgar/Henrik was not present at this session
The Lawbringers find themselves in the outskirts of the Dragonspur mountains, more precisely in the northernmost city of the mercantile realm of Amn. Nashkel is busy and many caravans pass through the city, which is resting on a steep slope. It is heavily fortified and up here in the mountains they can spot snow and the air is very cold.
They enter the city and find the inn of Lost Hope, a huge inn divided into four huge buildings. They talk with the innkeeper, an old man and when they say they are the Lawbringers he reacts with stunned surprise. He gives them a key to number 15 and tells them to wait.
One hour later a knock on the door is heard. They open it and a ragged halfling enters. They have been expecting a mage of considerable power and are confused. The Halfling introduces himself as Alioth and tells the party that not all adventurers are kind hearted and he is "wearing" this halflings body if they were hostile. Wythmord and Runegar recognizes the spell, Magic Jar, a necromancy spell.
Alioth greets them in a friendly way and ask if they were succesfull in retrieving the last book of Thoon, they say yes. He tells them that he and his remaining friends have seen too much bloodsheding and 3 friends have been killed in the search for the books. He tells them that he and his party is willing to give the last book if they will swear that they would do anything to destroy the books and possible Thoon himself. He goes on and tells them that the books are pure evil and madness and as nexus points of the plane of madness the books must have been penned on the plane of Madness itself, the party agrees with the idea. Alioth informs them that the typical way to destroy the books are destroying them on the plane where they were created and there is a strong possibility that the books will open a doorway to that foul plane if they are brought to the pillar of the gods, as described in the back of the second book they found. Again the party agrees!!! Alioth tells them that he must be sure that they are powerful enough to deal with the book and possible Thoon and says that they must complete 2 simple tests. One is to retrieve a gold coin minted inancient Narfell, it rests in a cave far from here. If they are succesful they are also awarded the sword of Cambria, which should easier damage divine beings (Thoon)
The Party agrees and say the their oaths and Alioth casts a spell which gives Runegar a vision of a rocky, boulder-filled wasteland. Alioth tells them to travel 4 hours due east, there they will find the cave in which the coin rests. He leaves afterwards.
After a brief discussion they travel back to Silverymoon and meet up with Taern Hornblade who agrees to keep the book for 6 more days. They are after all close to the third book. They rest and teleport to the boulde field and Wythmord leads them due east for 4 hours.
Death by death giants
Ken-roth, old and scarred rests on his throne of bones and skulls, his mighty greatsword Skull-Taker within reach. He is content with his tribe. For 3 years they have defeated anything the Giant Run mountains could muster. Only four of his death giants have fallen and countless lesser creatures have been killed or enslaved. Even the red dragon Entraxxar died by his sword. Soon he will summon his kin from far away in Unther and his clan will be complete and a new kingdom will emerge. The Hill giants of the mountains have bowed before him and sworn fealty, stupid creatures and their giantish blood is the only reason they still draw breath. Content he slumps back in his throne, secure in his death giants ability to hear intruders...
The Lawbringers are outside of a terrible cave. Thousends of decaying bodies are outside on the slopes beside the cave. Huge boulders have been carved to resemble skulls, torchliy from the eye cavities. They decide the best plan is to buff up and to in, perhaps not the best laid plan hehe..
Inside the see the walls have been covered in skin and teeth and smell just horrible. They wade forward and suddenly they have been heard and hear ugly roars in the giant tongue. A huge battle scarred grey giant with pointy ears emerge from a room. Around him is a grey fog filled with faces og men, giant, orcs and dwarfs. From lower in the cave emerge 3 more giants emerge, Death giants. Galahad uses all actions to grant his allies attck and defense bonuses and their weapons are covered in flames. Wythmord casts shield of Faith mass and Runegar casts time stop, in which he casts haste, fire sheild mass, bite of the wereboar and fly. Well protected he is indeed. Ken´roth, leader of the giants, moves forward and attacks Galahad with his huge greatsword Skull-Taker, and crits!!! 134 in damage and Galahad struggles to keep his insides yes well inside. Nevertheless the pirate king Galahad does not want to show weakness and attacks the leader after dodging several blows (att of opp) and does an impressive 47 in damage. The two other giant move forward each conjuring a miasma of darkness each damaging Galahad, they are clever and senses weakness. Galahads Hp drops to 2 and suddenly his soul is dragged screaming from his body into one of the giants soul-fog. He is dead!!!. Runegar conjures a wall of force and that leads to a stalemate. Wythmord tries to resurrect Galahad but the attempt fails and the giant cannot pass the barrier. The rounds pass with several different attempts by both sides but in the end the party teleports away with Galahads body....

(31/8-09) 8 Elient: Unlocking the second book of Thoon and the Pillar of Gods
Unlocking the second book of Thoon
The mighty Lawbringers have concluded that the books of Thoon, of which they have 2, are responsible for the madness in the inn and decide to unlock its secrets right away.
They travel to an ancient elven site once dedicated to fighting demons but now a overgrown ruin. Wythmord is the one who will delve into the book and prepares by casting several spells to upgrade his will saves. Tealgar even transfers will save to Wythmord and in the end he has a staggering +40 to will saves. He starts reading the book and its cover reads: The plane of Madness. It seem to be a difficult book to read as the different sections are mixed and mad rammblings have been added to the pages. It appears to be a book full of thesis about the plane of madness which rests somewhere between the world of dreams and our world. It seems innocent enough but Wythmord senses that he can pierce the layers of the book and gleam its secrets by allowing the power of the book to overwhelm his mind. He allows it and feels like a storm of madness descends on his mind!!!! But with his high will saves he succeeds and the pages shred revealing a book of flayed skin, sinew and bone lettering.
The book is indeed foul it describes that a person can tap into the elusive plane and siphon power from it. It is even possible to tap intothe plane and achive enough power to achive divinity without followers, an anthesis to all that is known of divinity and the gods. Thoon had managed just that , and the book explains that if a god of the madness plane dies he is drawn back to the foul plane instead of resting in the astral plane. I.e Thoon is on the plane of madness. The book also says that if nexus points of the plane of madness are present on our world the madness will seep through the planar boundaries and leak out into our world, causing death and madness. That is probaly what has happened in the inn and the nexusses are the books of Thoon. As the book are nexus points and made of pure madness they must have been penned on the plane of madness itself and are causing madness if they are resting too long in one place. He also finds several spells hidden within the foul pages. It also tells him that the books should be brought to the pillar of the gods and the third book have been found by the seekers, the elusive group they know are searching for the books as well.
Meanwhile the rest of the party is guarding Wythmord when they all, save Runegar, hears something gargantuan pushing its way through the forest. Galahad sees something reptilian and huge claws. He advances and starts singing. His allies weapons are covered in flames and their attacks and defenses increased. Suddenly a line of avalanche descends on the party burying Runegar and Tealgar in debris. A gargantuan reptilian monster draws nearer, a Malastor. It shreds at Galahad and causes 32 in damage. Runegar is trapped beneath debris and tries to brake free but fails and is caught. The mighty dwarven Battlepreacher Tealgar also fails to break free. Galahad draws nearer to the huge reptile and punches through its armor with a crit dealing 62 in damage with his enchanted rapier. The monster roars in pain and attacks Galahad with a bite and deals him a crippling wound but the wily pirate king has a trick up his sleave and attacks the monster 2 times each time he is attacked and punches through the monsters defenses, burning it and cutting it open. The monster moves 5 ft and claw attacks him wanting to get away from the crippling attacks of opportunity and draws blood. Runegar uses his cape and stands suddenly 40 ft. away from the monster and quickly casts haste. Tealgar remains trapped for the duration of the combat, which ends the next round as Galahad shreds the monster with 5 attacks.
As Wythmord comes too he sees the dead burning monster and is surprised. He tells the party all about the book and they decide to ask Taern Hornblade to keep one of the books as they think they are more powerful and foul together. Wythmord, as he read the book, also had a vision of him standing beneath the pillar of the gods and they decide to go to the pillar of the gods after they have talked with Taern.

The pillar of the gods
Back in Siverymoon they are escoted to Taern. He is surrounded by clerics and wizards and demands a talk with the party. A monster, which spreads death and madness, have been killed close to the inn where the characters have been staying and Taern is concerned as the monster, a great Fihyr, cannot enter the wards of the city and he asks if the dreaded book could be responsible for it. The party agrees with Taerns conclusion and tells him what they have learned and Taern is horrified. All the laws of divinity have been cast aside and suddenly the raw energy of the layer of madness has revealed is horrifying abilities. They tell him of the nexus points and ask of Taern to take the first book and keep it safe while they travel to the pillar of the gods as they do not want to bring both books to the site. He reluctantly agrees but will only keep it safe for 1 day and next day they are adviced to leave Silverymoon as the books can bring forth creatures that will cause the death of innocent citizens.
They thank him and Wythmord teleports them to the middle of the Araunoroch desert where they stand before a huge pillar with steps carved into it , spinning higher and higher into the air. They start the long climb to the top.
On the top they see an awesome sight. The entire surface is gleaming and mirrorlike and the ravages of time have been kind to it. In the middle looking inward are gargantuan statues of the old Netherese Pantheon, Mystrul, Kozah, jergal, Shar, Amanautor, Tyche, Moander, Jannath and several lesser deities. They are looking inward at a stone altar circled by netherese runes. Wythmord casts a spell and recognize the runes:" Here the lords meet, always friends to better the nation of Netheril herself" it reads. They see a scroll case lying on the altar. Runegar reads it out loud and it roughly says: It has been written by Alioth os the seven circles and says that he has learned that the 2 remaining books have been found by the "bringers of law" and then he warns the party of the foulness of the books and says that he and his party are planning to bring all books to the pillar of the gods and open a portal to the plane of madness and slay Thoon once and for all. He expresses his hope that the party has similar plans. He informs them that he will be at the inn of Lost hope in Nashkel in Amn each month from the first to the tenth, and he hopes that they would meet with him"
The party checks their calender and realizes that it is the tenth today and decide to teleport to Nashkel (Tealgar have been there as he came north from the Great Rift by the Trade way which pass Nashkel).

(17/8-09) 4 Elient: Stocking up on items and strange brawl
Stocking up on items
Safely back the Silverymoon the characters spend almost an entire evening selling and buying loot. This always takes up a lot of time but is fun and costly for the players as they get more powerful equipment and sell of useless items.
Strange brawl
Wythmord is out in the poorhouses doing charity as he promised Moonmistress Naergrathe in Waterdeep as she resurrected Talon and Tealgar is in deep meditation reading a book of gainful exercise (+5 str). Galahad is playing cards when suddenly a hunter at the bar draws his sword and screams in mad bloodlust. Galahad stand up and tries to reason with the man but he is beyond reach and slashes another hunter across the chest, spraying blood and sending the man tumbling to the floor. The innkeeper graps a club and moves closer to the mad hunter and the rest of the inn screams for the city guard and storms out of the inn. Only 8 robust men decides to stay. Galahad fasinates the madman as well as the innkeeper with bardic music and tries to spot whoever is causing this bloodlust, but either the foe is gone or well hidden as no one is detected. Suddenly a man starts weeping and cries that he has no reason to live anymore and another also foams at the mouth and stands up swinging a short sword. Runegar has had enough and casts sleep at the enemy, blotting out nearby cretures with an archmage ability. The new madman fall to the floor sleeping.
Then the door is kicked in and city guards enter the room, a seargeant leads them and behind him crossbowers take aim. " What in the nine hells are happening here he, you are all under arrest" he shouts when suddenly his eyes turn red and madness grips him. He turns to the next city guard and heaves his sword high in the air. Galahad is occupied with singing and fasinating the two men at the bar but luckily Runegar reacts and again a madman stumbles sleeping to the ground. The remaining cityguards flee the inn hoping to get away from the madness in the inn. The party hears screams for wizards and clerics to help them!!! They see that the man lying in a pool of blood draws his last breath
Several minutes pass in peace. The remaining 8 burly men close with the innkeeper and the madman, signaling to Galahad that they will knock out the men with the blunt side of their weapons. Galahad knows that raising weapons will break his bardic music but he cannot stop as that also will break the effect. The men raises the weapons and the men snap out of the effect!! The man who killed another drops his sword and looks terryfied at the deed he has done. The innkeeper looks around and launches himself at the killer, wanting to hold him down, over the bar. Runegar had readied an stardard action if someone attacked and the innkeeper provoked his action hehe!! Runegar has had enough of it and launches a deeper slumber at the innkeeper who in the midst of his flying tackle falls asleep and lands hard on the floor. The 8 burly men also falls asleep and only the killer still stands. He is terryfied however and tries to flee the scene in panic but 2 well placed fists from Galahad downs the frightened man who is knocked unconcious.
The door is opened and a cleric of Tyr makes his way and asks questions but is is clear what has happened and after the party flashes their knightly emblems they, as the only ones, are allowed to remain in the closed up inn. Wythmord returns later that same night and they tell him what has happened...

11/8-09) 28 Elasias 1373: Back through the swamp, Silverymoon and a talk with Taern Hornblade
Back through the swamp
The heroes rest for the night and next morning they advance through the swamp, this time led by Wythmords survival skills (high wis ). As they make their way through the swamp they notice that more and more wildlife is returning to the swamp, birds, insects and small mammals. As they come to the edge of the swamp Wythmord fails terribly and they spend 2 full days walking in the wrong directions hehe. At the end of the first day, while being lost. Telagar spots movement behind a rock formation. He sees an icy blue foot and screams ambush to his friends.
They have encountered them before and was warned by a hunter that at the edge of the swamp cryo-hydra was present in large numbers. Two of them advance from their hiding positions and Tealgar moves forward to protect his allies.
Next round Runegar protects them with a fire shield mass and Wythmord casts greater status on the party wanting to know their hp and the possibility to heal them at a distance. The hydra closest to Tealgar advances and attacks Tealgar 12 times each time getting blasted by the fire shield but the attacks are dangerous and the snapping jaws of the reptile tears chunk after chunck of dwarven flesh from Tealgars bones. In the end only a hastely cast delay death by Wythmord saves the dwarfs life, but is still down at -28hp. The other hydra advance on Galahad"Guy" but is still far from striking distance. Runegar attacks the first Hydra with a power word and it freezes, unable to take any actions. He them quickly attacks the other with an unluck spell and it fails its save and must roll 2 times each time it rolls dice and use the worst result, cool action!!! Galahad uses an ability and his friends feels spurred on by his charismatic voice (rally the crew dread pirate ability +6 hit dmg ac and 15 temp. hp)He then uses another ability and the weapons of his friends flares up, covered in searing flames dealing 6d6 with each strike. Then he closes with the other hydra and attacks it damaging it slightly (but wait and see)
Runegar assults the first hydra with powerful spells slaying it quickly and Wythmord heals the battered Tealgar via greater status. The remaining hydra attacks Galahad and with each attack it makes Galahad hits it twice (Robilars gambit and Double strike feats) each time searing it with the flames of his weapons and punching holes in its thick hide. He is easy to hit but each hit sears the reptile with flame from the fire shield mass spell. After the second attack the reptile had been dealt 134 in damage from fire and steel and switches target to a less aggresive foe, Wythmord but alas it had taken too much damage and it dies from another blast from the fire shield mass spell. They are victorious!!!

After the second attack the reptile had been dealt 134 in damage from fire and steel and switches target to a less aggresive foe, Wythmord but alas it had taken too much damage and it dies from another blast from the fire shield mass spell. They are victorious!!!
Silverymoon
After the fight and the loss of two days in the swamp (thanks to the party only having the high wis of Wythmord to lead the way) they agree on teleporting away as they now hate the swamp. A long discussion follows as Runegar refuses to return to Silverymoon as he had a falling out with Taern Hornblade, the discussion was fun and Runegar was convinced to return to Silverymoon.
They stop at Corwell and bring back the corpse of Ultwan Oasspear to his family in Caer Corwell, the mansion of the corwell family. The count is very grateful and tells them that what they have done have earned them a friend in the Corwell family. He also bows before them and says that they they are true nobles in his eyes.
Back in the Gem of the North they frequent their usual inn and casts a sending to Taern to meet them at the inn next noon.

Talk with Taern Hornblade
Next noon Taern Hornblade strides into the inn and together they are shown to the back room. Tealgar tells him about their quest (Taern instructed them to report back every month and this is the first time hehe) that they have learned that someone were trying to find the 3 dreaded books of Vespian Thoon, a netherese demigod of madness and Death. A prophecy told them that whoever were searching for them were trying to find the books and no one knows what would happen if they were joined. They also ask him if he knows of somewhere they could unlock the secrets (by piercing the books defenses with their will). Tearn tells them of an old elven tower in the silver woods where demons once was kept safe. They thank him and tells him of the loss of Talon and the newest member: Galahad "Guy" Threadwood. Taern ask of them if they can vouche for this pirate and they say yes. He then asks Galahad if he would join the Knights of Silverymoon and he agrees. After the talk Taern leave..

(20/7-09) 27 Elasias 1373: Dracolich, deliverence and tree attack
Dracolich
Peter/Runegar is not present at this session
The heroes have just defeated the lost druid when the halls tremor with a mighty roar. They also hear whispering mad voices and from the end of the corridor they see a terrible creature advancing. Once a mighty gold dragon, now more snakelike than dragonlike. It has rotted wings and its tail have been split in two halves each ending in a sharpe piece of bone. Its head is elongated and the characteristic whiskers are now foul tentacles. The beast roars in rage and madness and descends on the party.
Wythmord casts 2 spells that will help him turn the creature and moves into position. The dracolich advances threatening. It glares eveilly at Wythmord who succumbs to its paralyzing gaze and stands completely still, his body frozen. Elbryn and Tealgar attacks the behemoth dragon hitting it with blows from axe and sword. Guy likewise attacks the dragon and moves into position. Suddenly floating from the walls emerge 2 ghostly apperitions, dread ghosts one attacks Wythmord draning 1 cha and one moans terribly. Elbryn is shaken by its effect.
Wythmord sacrifices a spell and uses a magical item, and restores movement to his limbs. Then he turns undead with the help of the previously cast spells and both the ghosts are destroyed. He then casts cure light wounds mass healing his friends and damaging the dracolich. The dracolich responds by breating on the party draining 9 int damage from Tealgar who suddenly feels stupid hehe. The dragon also fulls attacks Elbryn and Tealgar and leaves them both paralyzed by its numbing touch. Guy advances at the dragon wanting to get the opportunity to kill his friends paralyzer.
Wythmord ,being the most effective undead slayer around, casts Heal mass!!! His allies are healed and not longer paralyzed and the dracolich takes 200 in damage, and with no con score it explodes in motes of positive energy, dead.
Wythmord knows that its soul must be found but they search the caverns and find nothing, only apx.100.000 in gold and gems as well as several items. They also cut away the tentacles from the grandfather tree that are fastened to the Book of thoon and they let go, covering the ground with rotting sap. The coffin with the first high king Ultwan Oakspear is also freed and they decide to take the book and the corpse of the king with them. They think that the first high king should be laid to rest in a better place than this.

Deliverence
They suddenly hear the rushing of strong winds. Outside they see the oily mist is beginning to disperse and rays of sunlight can be seen through the mists. A small bird emerges from a hole in the mist and chirps loudly, the first real animal seen in the foul swamp. Appearently the destruction of the link between the focus of the swamp, the grandfather tree and the corrupting book of Thoon have freed the swamp from the corruption and they are witnessing the first steps in the nomalization of the Thinnier Swamp.
Tree Attacks
They decide to walk back though the swamp and are soon foced a will save upon. They suceed and scan the surrounding ares, just to find nothing. The treck on and find the swamp to be a lot less hostile, probaly the effect from their severing of the tentacles connected to the Book of Thoon.
But the thing that mentally assulted them have tracked them and one hour before dawn Wythmord spots a huge tree with blackened branches and the smell of rot.
It staggers into the camp attacking with 6 branch-clubs doing an imprissive 25-35 damage with each swipe. It had 475 hp and dr10/Bludgening.
The battle was on as Elbryn and Tealgar rushed to the attack. Guy moves into position and with his abilities granted his allies +6 hit + 6 damage+6 dodge AC. and +8 damage if they ganged up on the enemy which they did off course hehe. After several rounds of fierce combat the Elder Night Twist manages to kill Elbryn with heavy blows. Guy and Tealgar, off course, aided the elf but still the killing machine went on, attacking Guy who each time it attacked, hit it with a cut (Robilars gambit feat ). It ended when Wythmord threw a bloodstar at it dealing 5 con damage and it was quickly dispatched afterwards.
Wythmord revivified Elbryn and the party decides to venture further on.
The session lasted 3 hours and the party gained a level as they received good xps for finding the second book of Thoon and are now level 18

(13/7-09) 24 Elasias 1373: The Sacking of Runegar, Guys return, titanic toad, thegrandfather tree and the mad lost druid of Thoon
The sacking of Runegar
Back in Silverymoon Tealgar finds their usual Inn and Runegar makes his way to his guild, The Lady´s College. At the college he is presented with a scroll. It tells him to seek out Taern Hornblade, his sponsor, immidiately. He is taken to an opulent library where Taern is smoking a pibe and reading a dusty grimoire.
He tells Runegar that a guild-wizard of their allied city, Waterdeep has told of the trial in Waterdeep and Runegars alledged murder attempt. He tells Runegar that the 2 colleges are closely linked and, as his sponsor, Runegars wrongdoing makes the college look bad and in particular Taern himself who sponsored him. Taern tells Runegar that he values above anything loyatyl patience and goodness of heart and anyone breaking those unwritten codes are unfit for his sponsorship. He tells Runegar to pick up his stuff in his chamber and leave the college. Runegar acts cold and throws his Knight of Silverymoon taberd and clasp, and tells Taern that he resigns as Knight of Silverymoon and storms out of the college.
Unknowingly to Runegar/Peter i had prepared a lesser punishment if he was regretfull and sorry for his actions. That would be from 6 months to 1 year depending on a diplomacy roll, but Runegar was anything but sorry and that spurred on his total exile from the college. Angry he ventures back to the inn and gets drunk as only dwarves can....

Guys Return
Wythmord after some time spent in the swamp with Elbryn teleports back to Silverymoon and Casts Miracle on Guy returning him to life. Afterwards he casts regeneration and Guys eyes growns back. They meet up with Tealgar and Runegar who are seeking knowledge in a Oghman temple.
Titanic Toad
Meanwhile back in the swamp Elbryn, being ever impatient ,decides to continue and as the other heroes are researching in the Oghman temple. 7 hours later his keen elven senses warns him of danger from a hill up ahead.
The hill moves and shakes of layers of mud and rot and reveals a gigantic toad. Elbryn stealthily moves away from the toad covered by the fog. Several rounds of cat and well yes toad pass until the toad suddenly spots the wily elf. Elbryn slashes at the toad unleasing 8 attacks on the behemoth hitting it for some 140 in damage. The toad bites Elbryn and decides and keeps him firmly caught in it s mouth.
Elbryn sees the attack for what it is. It wants to eat him and he activates a magical item and slides clear. The toad decides that this pesky elf is to slippery to eat and wanders over him trampling him for some 40 in damage. Elbryn again lashes out but despite heavy bleeding wounds the critter remains alive and crits the elf for 71 in damage auch!!!!
Wythmord, back in Silverymoon, feels the anguish of his friend through a spell. That spell even lets him heal at a distance which he does and next round the overgrown amphidian dies in a shower of gore.

Grandfather tree
Elbryns trecks on and soon sees buildings half submerged in the foul Thinnier swamp. The buildings are decorated by carvings of dead men and women looking peaceful and serene. It soon dawns on him that the entire city is filled with small mauleseums and graveyards making this entire city a huge graveyard created by a long lost people of expert craftsmen. He wanders through the grave city when he hears the creaking of chains nearby.
He follows the sound to the center of the city. There stands a runecovered rotting tree easily 100 ft. in diameter. Its branches have fallen of and litter the ground. It seems that some huge mauleseum have once been built around the tree but now only the ruined walls are left alongside debris. The sound comes from one of many metal cages hanging from the lower branches. Most of the are filled with corpses but 1 houses a huttled figure lying at the bottom of the cage. He finds a good hiding spot and await news from his friends. At the feet of the Grandfather tree stairs can be seen making their way down. Mold and fungi cover the walls but he can see pictures of peacufull dead men and images of peacefull burials.
Apx. an hour later Elbryn receives a sending from Runegar who wants to know about his location. Elbryn describes the place in great detail and suddenly he is joined in the foul marsh by his allies. Tealgar ,being fearless , approaches the huddled person in the metal cage. As they draw mearer they can hear an insane muttering from the cage: " What rots the mind, rots the body" repeated over and over again. They try a great many things to restore lucidity to the poor man but to no avail, he remains rammbling. They open the cage and the man crawls away fearfull, allways looking at the entreance to the caves below the tree.
They camp for the night and nothing happens. They conclude whatever is lurking in the swamp must be fearful of whatever lives below the corrupted tree.
Next morning, buffed by spells, they enter the caves below the foul corrupted Grandfather tree.

Mad lost druid of Thoon
They pass through corridors lined with foul mold and ugly fungi until they turn a corner. At the bottom they see the deepest roots of the Grandfather tree. They wriggle like tentacles and cover an old stone coffin. In the coffin rests a corpse clad in majestic armor and a shield and spear are lying on the floor. On the corpse chest lies a beautiful book, platinum inlays and brown leather bindings. They recognize it as the second book of Thoon and knows that despite its appearence it is evil incarnate. The deepest roots of the tree seems attached to the book, pulsating as if drinking the foul knowledge within the dark books pages.
Standing before the book is a huge elemental. Its rotting flesh is hanging loose and magma drips from its pores. It has a horn and its skin is pierced by revolting poisen-dripping thorns. Foul sticky tentacles emerges from diseased pusscovered holes in its shoulders. A radience surround it and it has a tortoise shell on its back made from force. Its eyes brim with power and the insane druid screams: " Do not touch MY BOOK, the words of the blessed one is for me ALONE" and initiative is rolled. Beside the druid rests a big cat likewise tentacled and horned also surrounded by a radience.
The undead elemnetal strikes first and charges Tealgar hitting him 5 times and almost killing the the beleaugered dwarf with fierce blows and . The compagnion also charges Elbryn inflicting heavy wounds on the elf warblade. Runegar casts fire shield mass and the party is protected by searing cold flames. Wythmord heals the dwarf battlepreacher Tealgar. Elbryn and Guy gangs up on the animal compagnion but fails to slay the monstrosity despite Guys helping dread pirate abilities. Tealgar charges the mad druis but fails to connect. Wythmord sees the fiend as undead and casts a cure critical wounds mass severely injuring the monster as well as healed his compatriots.
Next round the undead creature unleashes 5 attacks at Tealgar bringing him to 10 hp, in 2 rounds he has been damaged for almost 400 auch. Elbryn enables the party to attack more with a haste spell and moves away from the center of the batlle. Elbryn hits the compagnion again and attacks the druid but its impossible high ac saves it from harm. Tealgar saves the day!!!! He smites evil again and again and hits it with a series of attacks. Suddenly his weapon unleashes a blast of energy meant to hurt only undead and with this attack and the rest of his attacks he kills off the undead druid and the compagnion is soon cut down by Guy and Elbryn.
Then they hear a mighty roar from further down the corridor...

(6/7-09) 23 Elasias 1373: The city time forgot, diseased brood keeper, crows of death and foul Tumbleweed
The city time forgot
Next day after resting 2 more hours they make their way through the foul swamp when suddenly a plateau rises from the swamp and they can see 9 mud-brick buildings centered around a hut made of banches and wood. The city seems empty but is not covered in the dense fog that is everywhere in the swamp and the buildings seems like they have been abandones recently with farming equipment and tools lying on the ground. they decide to investigate and find the city in perfect condition, even the well is filled with clear water. Whatever has befouled the swamp cannot penetrate this area. The buildings are empty but in the hut in the center of the village they find something peculiar. Small dolls of women, men and children splattered in dries blood are hanging from the ceiling and symbols are drawn on the dirt floor. They recognize the center symbol as the religious symbol of the older Earthmother religion and the runes surrounding it a series protective inscriptions. Runegar disciphers scrips and it says: The city is gazed upon by the mother of the trees, disturb it and disturb the mother herself. They gather that the symbols, though unmagical, are able to stave off the corrupting touch of the Thinnier Swamp and they decide to leave it undisturbed. Perhaps they can use it later as a sleeping place....
Diseased Brood Keeper
Several hours later everyone save Runegar hears a droning sound and moves into position. Out of the marsh wanders a huge bug. Beetle like with a heavy carapace but the chitin plates are soft and rubbery and the insect smells of rotting flesh. It open its back and a swarm of rotting flying maggots the size of a human hand emerges and flies closer enveloping Tealgar and Wythmord biting into their flesh and skin.
Elbryn sees the foul bettle and is suddenly taken back by its fearsome appearance but shakes of its fear effect. He charges the behemoth beetle but misses on a natural 1. Guys nerves are not as strong as Elbryns and he screams in panic and races away from the beetle running at full pace through the swamp. Wythmord moves away from the swarm and tries to cast a 9th level spell but fails as the droning of the swarm makes it hard for him concentrate. He curses his luck but to no avail.
Next round Elbryn sees the difficulties the party is having and uses a maneauver with enables him to use to full attack actions and he hits with 7 attacks almost slaying the Brood Keeper in a single round of attacks. Wythmord makes his fear save and moves away from the swarm and through a spell he can target Guy with a spell which grants him another save to end the fear effect. He does it twice with the help of his belt of battle( which let him cast another spell in 1 round ) but Guy fails twice hehe and still runs screaming through the swamp. Runegar makes his fear save and the swarms distractions save and lobs a fireball at the swarm, remembering from earlier swarms that area of effect attack does a lot of damage to them. The swarm evades the attack hehe with evasion and bites again at the "lucky" dwarf. The Brood Keeper furiously attacks Elbryn hitting him 4 times ( one is a rend ) but the crafty elf has a stance activated with gives him DR5/- and the relatively weak attacks does little damage to the elf.
Elbryn finishes off the the beetle like monster and joins his friends in killing the pesky swarm which manages to make Elbryn throw up but when Runegar casts fire shield mass the critter is quickly slain.

Crows of Death
Later the same they, when passing an ares filled with dead birds, all but Runegar and Wythmord hears bird sounds. Suddenly a swarm of featherless crows descend on them. They are nearly mindless and charges Guy, ripping at him with rotting beaks. He is only lightly wounded but the bird have a neat trick. I rolled 11 on a d100 og Guys eyes are ripped from his face blinding the dread pirate. He screams and attacks the birds but misses due to his blindness and his other attacks are only scratches as his weapons are unmagical and the birds have DR10/magic. The other players save the surprised Runegar and Wythmord attack the eye plucking crow an almost kill them.
Next round the bird target both Wythmord and Guy but Wythmord succeed on his save Guy does not. A crow enter his mouth and violently carves its way through his head exiting the back of his skull. Guy lifeless body falls dead in the mud!!!
The crows are killed off but even Wythmords spells are powerless to bring the pirate back. Runegar remenbers something of the crows (knowledge arcana check) and tells them that it takes a wish or miracle to bring back their friend.
They make camp waiting for Wythmord to receive his miracle spell next morning.

The party wakes at the bashing of their leomund secure shelter. Runegar shouts:" I have had enough of this swamp, follow me to Silverymoon" and moves into position and casts Teleport greater. He and the body of Guy travels back to Silverymoon but Elbryn, wanting combat and Wythmord, for some reason decides to stay.
When the wall comes crashing down Elbryn throws his sword at the assailant, a gargantuan rotting tumbleweed and does apx. 50 in damage with the warblade maneauver. 30 ft. from the Plague Brush a foul rotting cloud emerges through the destroyed wall. Elbryn is immune but Wythmord is not but he makes his save, The 2 remaining character fight the enemy with sunbeams and melee damage. The Brush rolls over Elbryn and traps him inside its bulk but the wily elf can summon a freedom of movemnet from his armor and slides free attacking the enemy again and again. The fight is onesided as Wythmord can heal Elbryn and Elbryn kills of the brush in a shower of puss and sap.

(29/6-09) 22 Elasias 1373: Cryo-Hydras, Poisened treants, Red Sundew and Spiked Terror
Cryo-Hydras
The Lawbringers are encamped and Elbryn is on watch duty as he is startled. A hunter emerges from the darkness. He throws a dead deer at Elbryns feet and asks if he could join them in mutual protection, he clutches a nasty wound in his abdomen. The group agrees but sleeps with one eye open. In the morning the hunter, Orion invites them to join him in a healthy breakfeast. They decline but invite him to join them in Wythmords heroes feast and he agrees. Wythmord also heals his wound and the thankful hunter tells them that if they are venturing into the swamp they should be aware for hydras. The serpintine dangers lair in the outer reaches of the swamp and both the cryo and pyro variations are there too. They thank him and enter the smelling disease ridden swamp.
2 hours into the swamp they hear something advancing. Not all of the group reacts when 2 huge lumbering multiheaded hydras covered in rime emerges from the heavy fog in the swamp. Wythmord casts a new 9th level spell and they will all be protected and receives only half damage for several minutes. They attack the lumbering titans spraying green ichor in the fetid swamp. Runegar however uses his head and casts fire shield mass and the party is covered in heavy warm flames. This spell doom for the hydras as they are cryo.hydra and take +50% from fire damage and with 12 heads and only dealing half damage, well you do the math. 2 Hydras are killed as the flames on their "victims" smolder their hide and Runegar uses an Archmage power and turns electricity to fire through his spells. An easy victory for the mighty Lawbringers.

Poisened Treants
Later the same day they are trecking through the foul swamp. Huge shapes emerge from the cover of the fog that allways cover the foul smelling swamp emerges 3 walking trees, their barkskin blistered and weeping from open sores. Their eyes are burning with madness as they advance. Elbryn stealthily hides behind some trees and awaits their advance. The rest of the party buffs up and protects themselves with spells. Elbryn emerges from hiding and throws his 2 handed sword at 2 treants. It is a warblade maneauver and a line attack which chops down 2 of the foul treants. One of the treants had invoked a power and a tree had listened to his call and advanced also seeking to destroy the lawbringers but it is too weak to put up much of a fight and is quickly dispatched. Another easy win for the lawbringers...
Red Sundew
Later the same night Runegar creates a magical hut for them to sleep in as the muck and mud is kess appealing to sleep in. They are rudely awakened as something bangs on the side of the house attacking the walls themselves. The door and windows are locked and only the creator of the spell can see open them without breaking them. Wythmord wants them to be in a better fighting position and teleports outside where they see a foul plant creature. Its spherical body is a bloated bag of puss and rotting plant material and tentacles emerge from weeping holes in its body. The foul creature attacks at random, only seeking sustanance. Its tentacles rot away flesh and the power of its limb break bones.
The fight is fierce but quickly over, the red sundew is dispathed quickly as fire and intense melee damage rain down over it, with not much damage to the party. But they are exhausting their spells at an alarming rate and with the dangers of the foul Thinnier swamp they are expending their arsenal.

Spiked Horror
Later the same night, an hour before dawn on Elbryns watch the door flies through the door hitting the far wall waking the party. Outside stands a roughly feline monster, but its body is made of rotting vines and puss dripping spikes. A Battlebriar who sends a swarm of spikes at the party, covering the in puncture wounds.
Elbryn and Tealgar moves forward hitting the plant creature several times but Elbryn is knocked down but a fierce claw attack and when he stands up the spikes of the creature maul him 4 times, for apx. 80 in damage. Luckily Wythmord is ready with his empressive healing skills and with Runegar fire spells and Elbryn and Tealgars melee attacks the plant creature soon falls over dead.

Enlightened
Rasmus/Elbryn was not present at this session
The Lawbringers are still searching for the second book of Thoon and have defeated the guardian of the barrow a huge stone golem. They slide aside the lid of the coffin where Ultwan Oakspear should rest. They are surprised to find the coffin completely empty. The prophecy they are following said that the book should rest with the bones of the first high king and his copse is gone. They contemplate for a second and decide to open the second coffin containing Gwendolyr Kendrick, Ultwans wife.
As they start pushing the heavy lid aside they see that the second golem snaps into action. Tealgar moves closer holding the ward-stone given to them by the Earl of Corwell and telling it to stand back. Guy awaits its actions and Runegar boosts their attacks with a haste spell. The golem moves closer, hammering its huge fists at Guy slamming him with a crit dealing 77 hp in damage in one round, Guy is hurt but Wythmord easily heals most of the damage with a spell.
The battle is quickly finished as they have battled one of the golem before and with the healing of Wythmord and the combined power of three characters it falls easily. They open the second coffin and see a centuries old corpse of a human female clad in a decaying cotton robe, the late queen.. In her hands are a tablet of silver with writing etched into the surface It tells them that the first high king had, before his death, chosen to be buried in his homeland, the island of Moray a couple of days to the west of Corwell. They leave the barrow and meet up with tha earl of Corwell and his court wizard. The party tells them that no evil book are found in the crypt and the king is also not there. After the tale the earl thank them and tell them to seek out Rhinnon a mile from the city and tell him that the favour he ows the earl will be cashed in if he will transport them to the island of Moray.
They sleep and next morning Wythmord casts commune with his deity to know whether or not Talon will come back from the dead and they are horrified to learn that the spirit of Talon does not want to return to the material plane. Back in the inn i tell them to explain how their characters feel about the death of their comrade. Wythmord is saddened by the loss and also for the loss of knowledge the small dragon possesed. Tealgar liked the small dragon and would miss him, but life goes on for the rest of them and it has allready brought a new friend to him ( Andrés new character Guy). Runegar is partly saddened and bitter as he feels that Talon took the easy way as there is more than enough evil left to scour in the world. All in all a cool little way to reflect on dead characters. I also inform Guy/andré whose character suffers from amnesia that if he ever chooses a knowledge skill he would have to tell some of his background according to the knowledge skill chosen. That way if he ever chooses a knowledge skill he would suddenly remember something of his earlier life, cool idea i think.
They seek out Rhinnon, a stoic warrior who until they tell him about the debt he ows refuses to sail them to Moray. But then he agrees as long as they do not disturb his crew/sons.

Sea voyage
The Lawbringers set sail and leave the city of Caer Corwell traveling aboard a dragon ship crewed by the sons of Rhinnon and his fierce 6 ft. tall northlander wife. 2 days pass and as they get nearer to Moray Rhinnons wife paces the deack anxiously. They had heard tales of Moray and it has a fierce reputation for being the most savage place of the moonshae isles. Then out of the mist they see Moray, high mountains cloaked in oily mist and a cragged coastline devoid of settlements. A day later they come to a city where half og the city is situated on small islands linked by bridges and walkways. The city is cork and one of only 2 cities on Moray and it is filled with gruff mercenaries and adventurers....
towards Thinnier
The lawbringers eke their way through cutchroats and mercenaries and find a surprising welcoming inn, The Hammer and Anvil where half the inn is a smithy and the rest a inn with stone furniture and weapons on the wall. the inn is dwarven run and the innkeeper a female mountain dwarf. They ask her of where the resting place is for the first high king but she does not know much about the island itself only the city but she tells them that later that night a known bard will entertain and one of his favorite tales is the Tale of Moray, perhaps they can learn something at that performance.
We actually spent a lot of time roleplaying in the inn, it was great fun especially when the 2 human characters forund out that the whole inn was dwarven sized, even the beds. Guy hung a hammock up in his room and Wythmord discussed the size of the beds with the innkeeper, Guy even convincing her that more people would frequent the inn if the beds were human sized ( good diplomacy roll ). Later that night the bard arrived and Runegar asked him about the Tale of Moray. The bard was stoked and started performing the Tale of Moray, and suddenly all the clues they has made sense!!!
Once Moray was home to humans but the goblins in the north and the orcs in the south took their toll and the last people fled to the safety of Corwell or Callidyrr. Then a dark sorcerer emerged from the Thinnier swamp in the center of the island, Romus the Mind-Sundered.... The dreaded arch-sorcerer opened gates to realms of insanity and brought forth vile mad creatures. His keep was the mausoleum of a long lost king deep in the swamp and from it he commanded his legions ( they are looking for the grave of the first high king probaly Romus keep) Then came the arch-wizard Khelton Rhenk of the Gilded Scepter, aasimar and foe of all that is evil. He rode a gold dragon, Aurumvorox and planetar warriors followed him. The war was short but furious and in the end Khelton Rhenk won and killed Romus in a gigantic battle which befouled the swamp with death and madness. Khelton Rhenk soon after left Moray but left behind his steed, Auromvorax to make sure Romus legacy was hidden from mortal men.
They now know that the grave they are looking for is in the Thinnier swamp in the center of Moray and set off in search of the swamp. Traveling for 2 days they suddenly hear the screeching of an eagle and from the sky tumbles a large eagle which, just before landing transforms into a human male druid with long black hair and an armor of pearls. He warns them not to go any further but they insist and even manages to wrest some info from him.
He knows that after the batlle between Romus the Mind-Sundered and Khelton Rhenk of the Gilded Scepter a allience was agreed on between the druidic circles and the gold dragon Aurumvorox. One of the brighest young druids left the circles to live beside the dragon and protect something in the swamp. For more than a hundred years they guarded the swamp when suddenly they went quiet and abductions of druids started happening. The circles tried to penetrate the swamp but few returned and those who did were mad ( the Ilmater Shrine in Corwell took care of those druids and had done so for more than 1500 years). The druids agreed not to waste more lives and left the swamp alone but every few years or decades a druid disappeared. But these last few months more druids had been abducted as if something in the swamp was waiting for something huge to begin.
They thank him and press on coming to the swamp. It is covered in greasy fog and seems totally devoid of life. The mud is the colour of vomit and smells putrid. They make camp and get ready to enter the foul Thinnier swamp...

(16/6-09) 15 Elasias 1373: Corwell and the barrow of the first high king
Corwell
Runegar/Peter Elbryn/Rasmus was not present at this session and André have decided that to create a new character, Guy, instead of the dead Talon
The Lawbringers loot the fomorians and pick up the body of Talon who has died. They plan to true resurrect Talon when they achieve level 17 and can do it without level loss, but André has chosen to create a new character and Talon is no more. They do not know this in play and have to commune to get the right answer.
They travel for 2 more days passing several minor villages until they come to Corwell, a small fishing village with an old keep on a knoll overlooking the city. They enter the city wanting to find out 2 things: 1. They want to find the tomb of the first high king where the madness filled second book of Thoon should rest 2. They have encountered a mad former druid hunted by bounty hunters who said that a shrine to the prime deity on the Moonshae Isles the Earthmother have been burned by the mad druid. They check in a the Fish and Tackle Inn and ask the innkeeper if he knows something about the burning of the shrine!! He tells them that it is not a shrine to Earthmother but an Ilmater shrine that have been burned. They learn that some druid, over the course of 15 centuries, have gone mad after been stationed on the island of Moray and they have been interred in the shrine to Ilmater to live out their lives in relative peace. That does not fit what they have heard but the innkeeper knows nothing more. The innkeeper also introduces them to a corsair, a man who had washed up on their beach several weeks ago, and was looking bored with living in the city. They meet the man, Guy, a pirat looking fellow and especially Tealgar likes the man as he can drink almost as mush as he. They like the man who has an open mind and they welcome him in their group after telling him about the great adventures they have had and making sure he detests evil as much as they do. The piratking Guy also knows where to find the burned out shrine to Ilmater and they goes of in search of it.
They find it easily but not much of it remains. They see some city guards and ask them about the incident. they learn that the captain actually knew the madman they had encountered ealier, a druid named William who had gone insane after being stationed on Moray. They also find out that no bounty hunters have been sent out for the man. Hmm appearently the bounty hunters were lying and was searching for the foul book of Thoon themselves, probaly the same people mentioned in the prophecy that started the adventure in chapter 4. They also ask of the resting place of the first high king but the guards tell them nothing of it. They know that they are lying about it and are trying to protect the resting place of their long dead king. Guy spend 3 hours gathering information and learn that the knoll with the keep on once was a barrow where the king and queens of old were buried and the keep was erected to protect the barrows secrets.
Back in the inn the innkeeper come with a note to Tealgar. It says that Frior Thomas of Lathender would like to meet with him to talk about the incident with the burned shrine. The guards have probaly said that thay had been asking questions about the burning.
Tealgar meets with the friar in a dining room. The man old and grey invites him in and wants to know why they are interested in the burning. When Tealgar doesn´t answer the way the man wants he shouts and throws off his disguise and introduces himself as Rinnwald Kendrick, Earl of Corwell and demands to know the full truth. A wild haired woman appears from behind a cloaking spell and points a wand at him and he can hear the cocking of crossbows from concealed crossbowers. Tealgar in unafraid an demands that the Earl swear not to tell anyone else about what he is about to hear. He does and Tealgar tells him the truth and tells him that a foul book of madness are resting with the bones of the first high king. The Earl rewards his truth with invinting him and the oarty to the barrow later the same night so that the truth can be unveiled.

The Barrow of the first high King
Later that night they meet the Earl and the female wizard. They give them ward-stone to wear as they should help them survive in the heavily warded barrow. They are also warned that the wards are old and some of them are probaly functioning poorly and could be dangerous even when wearing the ward stones. The Earl is wooried whether or not someone have broken into the barrow and removed the book or placed it there and tells them to hurry.
As they close with the stone knoll a portal warps in front of them and they can smell moldy earth. Inside they come to large cavern filled with statues of king and queens with roots showing in the earthern roof. They follow a corridor to a large cavern where 2 stone coffins rests. On the side walls are Galthic runes carved into the rock. Wythmord quickly prays and touches the wall. The letters now makes sense and it says : "Do not disturb Ultwan Oakspear and his queen Wendolyr, lest thou disturb the spirits of the land" clearly a warning but they decide to open the coffin portraying the old king. When they starts sliding the top away the walls warps into 2 huge stone golems. Initiative is rolled.
Tealgar does not want to take any chances and charges the first golem and hits for 30 in damage. Wythmord uses his belt of battle and casts both righteous wrath of the faithfull and shield of faith mass helping his allies. Guy also charges the golem and invokes his rally the crew ability from his dread pirat class and gives his friends +8 to hit and damage as well as + 8 dodge to ac, cool cool. He inflicts a piercing wound with his rapier and with a smooth move unsheaths another hehe. The second golem looks at the ward stones and decide that they are not enemies and becomes inert. The first golem has been attacked and thunders 2 attacks at Tealgar dealing around 60 in damage.
Wythmord starts next round by healing Tealgar and then Tealgar hits the golem 3 times dealing aroung 80 in damage after DR well aided by the +8 from Guys rally the crew ability. Guy stabs and cuts 6 times at the enemy hitting each time with his 2 rapiers dealing around 17 in damage with each cut. The new prirat guy has some cool tricks up his sleeve.
Over the next 2 rounds the combat in onesided, the golem cannot deal enough damage to the players and is soon cut down by Guy who runs it through and it shudders and looses consistancy tumbling to the ground in piles of earth.
The session took 3 hours and the party gained a level and are now level 17 but a lot of players have not yet decided which class to level up yet.

(08/6-09) 10 Elasias 1373: Onwards and Chulc, king of the Fomorians
onwards
The heroes treck southwards and come to a fishing village named Grady. A few fisherman are dragging boats up on the beach and eyeing the heroes warily. Then Talon and Wythmord hears music coming from a tavern and having passed 9 or 10 small villages with no tavern at all they jump at the chance and enter the hanged man tavern. The music inside is bagpibes and flutes, but the music stops suddenly as the party enters. A man and a woman are dancing between 2 groups of people. They both wears a crown of thorns which makes bloos drip from their scalps. They stop and glare angrily at the party, several guests draw wicked looking curved short swords and the innkeeper shouts at them and points at the door. The event is beginning to look ugly a an elderly woman with thorns braided into her hair parts the crowd. In her hands is a pot with a mix of porrage and blood. She says in common that this is Gallwyrr, a marriage ceremony and strangers are unwelcome. When Wythmord starts chanting she shouts angrily at them to leave, which they do...
They travel south and come to the trading city of Llewellyn where they spot warehouses belonging to costers on the mainland and hear common being spoken. They also see 2 inns and a lot of mercenary-guards guarding important merchants and the city is busy with loading smaller skiffs ferrying them to waiting ships out of the main harbour. They ask around on the harbour and learn that a ship, the Jewel will be setting sails next morning for Kings Bay on Corwell and learn that the captain is in the Lawn Inn. They enter a posh place with silver trays and crystal vases. The patrons are rich arrogant merchants sipping wine and eating fermented cheese. Tealgar starts ordering beer but they have only wine but he orders Rashemmi Fire Wine and is lured by the innkeeper to buy Cheese from Amn and bread from the bakers of Waterdeep. He even buys surloin from Tharran buffalo and starts eating. He almost drops his beard when the bill arrives 50 gp hehe. He tries to barter with the innkeeper but alas no succees. He pays and they seek out the captain of the Jewel, a minor noble dressed in rich brown clothes, sitting in the corner of the inn. He is arrogant but merchant minded and agrees to passage for 5 gp each and that they stay away from his crew. They agree and next day they set sail for Kings Bay, passing the strait of Aleron.
They enter the heavily guarded city of Kings Bay where they learn that foreign merchant are only allow to operate in a few of the cities on the isles and Kings Bay are the most popular. They leave the city traveling along the mist covered Lyrath Forest whre wind chimes whistle eerily.

Chulc, king of the fomorians
" prey " the battle scarred king of the fomorians whispered to his followers. "Man-flesh and dwarfses and elfes to torture" he muttered in ugly gianttish. The day would be blessed in blood for the beastlord, even though no help has been seen form his side in years. Chulcs kin had fallen out with the Karryll clan of Firbolgs residing deep in the Lyrath forest and that danmed hunter Kell has killed dozens of his tribe, forcing them to move around the forest, hiding like animals. But perhaps the bloodgod would see this sacrifice and see their bloodlust and their bodies covered in the blue warpaint of their ancestors and rejoice!! " KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL" he shouts and breaks their cover...
Talon hears something from within the forest and shouts an alarm and not too soon!!! From the forest charge 4 ugly creatures. Their bodies are at least 15 ft. tall and covered in ugly warts and pale skin. Blue paint have been painted on their flesh and they howl and scream and they charge. Their leader is 17 ft- tall and pulsing with muscle. His left eye is only a pus-covered hole in his head and he wields a gigantic maul in two hands drumming his chest with it like some kind of demonic monkey.
Runegar is the closest to the King of the fomorians and receive a charge attack turning his left knee to pulp, 52 in damage. Tealgar is also hit by a fomorians heavy flail. Another fomorian closes with Tealgar, he wields a small mirrror, he whispers in ugly common "looksee dwarfes, looksee" and a gaze attack hit Tealgar, erupting from the mirror. He shrugs off the effect and glares evilly at the giant. Talon was the only one able to react to the giants attack and chants hitting the leader with a maze spell, but just as it is about to disappear a Ioun stone circling its head absorbs the spell causing to harm to the roaring fomorian.
The King of the unclean fomorians is canny and knowns that spellcasters are the biggest threat in the battlefield and power attacks Talon 3 times and after the barrage of crushing blows the crushed body of Talon hits the ground, stonedead. Wythmord erects a wall of stone to try to force the giants away from him and Runegar. and moves into the crowd and tris to teleport away with Talon, but fails his concentration roll and remain where he is. The fomorian scream in joy at their leaders kill and one trample in among the players dealing 28 in damage to Wythmord and the dead Talon. Tealgar attacks a fomorian chopping him violently 4 times and almost killing him with smiting blows which scatters and hits the surrounding fomorians as well. Runegar casts invisibility and slinks from the middle of the fray wanting to secure a better position.
Wythmord touches the dead Talon and teleport 4 squares with an item and moves away and casts revenencer which brings Talon back with half hp, nice move. Chulc the king attacks Tealgar several times but only hits once as the dwarfs impossible high ac saves him from the worst damage. The other fomorians attack at random inflicting glancing blows to Wythmord and Talon. Runegar directs a disentegrate spell at a fomorian but it saves and takes only 25 in damage. The Tealgar-battered fomorian is killed by quickly cast spell and Tealgar unleashes hell with his axe on the leader smiting and chopping into the giant who roars in pain.
Wythmord surrounds the party with a nimbus of holy energy, but terror fills his eyes as he sees the king of the fomorians advance, wanting to rid the world of his healing energy. He power attacks with 10 and hits the cleric, sending him tumbling to the ground with -4 hp. Tealgar follow the leader and attacks him wildly scoring a critical hit dealing 74 in damage, the giant is hurt and when Talon turns into a platinium dragon he looks scared. Talon rips and shreds the giant with claws and bite. Runegar invokes the permanent limited wish he has available from his Runesmith class a a spell like ability one time pr. day and casts command greater which makes the 2 remaining Fomorians flee for their life.
King Chulc, migtiest of the fomorians power attacks Talon and 3 viscious blows sends the cleric once more to the great beyond, death!!! Tealgar attcks the giant and senses his awaiting doom after 3 hits. Runegar moves closer to the giant and fires a power word blind at the giant. He has less than 80 hp. remmaining and are now blind. He attacks wildly but are cut down as Tealgar climbs his injured leg and chops his head off with 2 tree chopping cuts.
The session took 4 hours and the party is still level 16

(01/6-09) 24 Flamerule 1373: The Seavoyage and the Moonshae isles
The Sea voyage
The Lawbringers board the Searat, setting sail for the Moonshae isles where the second book of Thoon are resting with the long dead first High King of the island kingdom. The sail south following the Sword coast until they come north of Baldurs Gate where they turn westward and soon come to the open sea.
Five days out a sudden crash hits the lower part of the ship, splintering the wooden planks. Something have hit the ship!!! The storm out of the hammock and hear again a crashing sound. Upstairs they see a shadow under the water, something huge. They fire arrows at it but they fail to connect and again the boat is hit hard. This time the ship tips slightly and they can hear the sailors screaming they the boat is sinking. Elbryn does something hazardous and jumps in the water. He activates a freedom of movement beforehand and his item which produces a light above his head.
Down in the water he sees a huge dragonlike shark, predatory and fierce. It glares evilly at Elbryn and tares into him with a ripping bite and smaller claws. He is hit hard and blood flows from huge gashes. The sailors on board the Searat can now see the beast as Elbryns light illuminates the beast and they attack it using crossbows hitting it several times during the next rounds.
Elbryn response is deadly to say the least. Boosted by Talons Righteous wrath of the faithfull he attacks five times in the first round and hits with 4 of them doing apx. 150 in damage. The Seawyrm retaliates and Elbryn is suddenly down to 47 hp. Talon sees his ally has been severely hurt and heals the elf who next round hits with all 5 attacks killing the monstrous sea creature..
The captain of the ship is glad the monster is dead but it was too late as the ship is sinking, they have 4 minutes he estimates and orders the smaller boats in the water. Talon and Elbryn starts thinking and goes through Talons spells. Talon tranforms into a platinium dragon with aspect of the platinium Dragon-spell and jumps into the water and actually manages to stop the ship from sinking with his mighty strenght and size. The captain is thrilled and tells him to lift it for 30 minutes, that will be enough to temporarily fix the holes in the hull. But alas Talons spell has a duration of rounds and not minutes. The captain orders his men to empty as much of the cargo into the waiting smaller boats as Talon hoists the ship erect. They manage to empty 20% of the cargo into the smaller boats when Talon has a bright idea. With polymorph any object he can transform a smaller boat into a bigger one and with only a few changes he can make it permanent!!! Cool idea and i accept it of course and the sailors and captain rejoice as the dinge warps into a dragonship.
2 days later they see the mist enshrouded moonshae Isles and the beautiful city of Caer Callidyr. The city is mostly pearl white buildings with several soaring towers and a mighty palace gleaming in the sun. They dock and the captain of the ship thanks them and tells them that he will help them if they ever need his help. He also warns them that the folk of the isles are superstitious and not proficient in the common tongue. The say their farewell to the captain and enter the city of Callidyr..

The Moonshae Isles
They search through the streets trying to find someone who can speak common and meet a foreign merchant in a market, he is buying fish ( the main export and stable diet of the Moonshae region). He tells them that should seek out loremaster Yndrell of the Pen of Wisdom, the local priest of Oghma he knows a lot about the isles and can probaly tell them where the first of the high kings is buried.
They find the temple and meets the Loremaster who will help them find the info they need if they are willing to search the library themselves as the labour they put into the task is devotion enough for his deity. 3 hous later they have found the relevant information and learned that the first high king was Ultwan Oakspear who came from the island of Moray and married Wendolyr Kendrick of Caer Corwell the daughter of the king of Corwell. He made peace with the Firbolgs and bargained with the druids of the land and eventually unified the different kingdoms which now are the Moonshae Islands. He is quite a hero and responsible for the love the Ffolk of the land have for the islands as he made them part of the land they lived in and not only scavengers who lived in scattered societies. He died 1727 years ago and was buried in Corwell.
They thank the cleric and know now that they should venture to Corwell to find his resting place. They leave beautiful Caer Callidyr and treck southwards towards Llewellyn which is the port where thay can find passage to the island of Corwell where the city of Caer Callidyr is located.
The Moonshae isles is a land of deep bogs, dark forest and high mountains and is covered almost all of the time in mist, giving it a dark look. the cities thay pass are filled with low wooden houses and the people retreat into thie houses when they spot them, indeed a superstitious lot.
On the third day the come to the city of Horsa, a small community with no people on the streets. they can see the smoke from fireplaces but the doors and windows are closed and no one is outside in the drenching rain. Suddenly they see a figure gazing at them from behind a building. He points at them a closes the distance. He is terribly thin and wears a white shirt and black suit. Madness fills his eyes and he speaks in verses who allways rime and are filled with dread and malice. Elbryn does not trust him and they stake out the place, but suddenly the man leaves the city walking into the moor. They wait for a moment and follow him but his tracks suddenly disapper, the man is gone!! The insane man talked about claws and teeth and something in the night, and they decide to wait the night out in the city expecting trouble. They knock on a door to the blacksmith which is the only one who has a stable where they can get away from the rain. They hear voices from inside, but they can only make out that he wants them to go away as they still have not mastered the the local tongue, Galthic. Elbryn even tries to push 5 gp under the door but the coins comes back followed by screaming from inside.
They decide to sleep in the stable anyway and look out for the dark things in the night. Nothing happens and next morning they hide away from the city under a bridge hoping that the crazy guy will reappear and tell them more. Elbryn suspects that the crazy man somehow is tied to the book of Thoon, a book filled with madness and death and they want to know more. They hear horses approaching and look up from under the bridge. 4 riders, gruff men in animal furs with ready weapons thunder into the city shouting in Galthic.
Talon turns himself invisible and casts Toungues on himself wanting to hear what the villagers say to the men. He hears that the riders are working for the crown and are looking for a man responsible for the burning of an Earthmother shrine in Caer Corwell and the blacksmith tells them that the man they are searching for was knocking on the door last night and he even in his madness pushed coins under the door ( it was Elbryn hehe )
The riders thank the man and ride north. Talon run back to Elbryn and quickly tells him what has happened. they agree to talk to the riders and dimension door close to them. The men respond with raised swords and crossbows shouting curses at the group, which they think are attacking them. The Lawbringers explain the situation and the men calm down. A burly bearded bear of a man does the talking. He is Rendall Fharn, bounty hunter for the crown and they are indeed searching for a crazy man. A former druid who now calls himself Pen the sword who is more than 100 years old and extremely dangerous. They talk for a while and the party tells them that the man escaped them in the moors. They toss a coin at the feet of the Party and thank them, then they leave...
