2. A Werewolf in London
(9/4-2012) 4th of April 1861: News of Murders, The Turk, William Battys Circus and Chasing the Wolf
News of Murders
A month later they are about to enter the Kerboros Club when a paper boy cries is heard among the many paperboys!!!! " Read all about it, horrible killings in Camden. True Photos included". They pay the boy and read the paper. They see pictures of mutilated corpses, an easy quick smarts roll reveals all have been killed with their throats ripped out.
When they enter the Kerboros Club they are told thet their sponsor Sir Charles waits for them in the Red Room. They meet up with their sponso,r who is going through some papers and pictures are speard out on a table. They notice that the pictures is of mutilated corpses with their throats ripped out, just as in the paper they bought. Sir Charles wants to know if the last mission was successful. He is saddened by the news of Xians death but tells them that seldom does a Kerberan die of old age. He welcomes Nakamura into their ranks... The group then aks him where he got the pictures and tells him of their findings in the paper. Inquisitive he lets them see them and the papers he appearently bought in Leicester. Sir James rolls investigation and raises!!! He can see thet the murderer must be the same person and it reveals another thing!!! A full moon was occuring at the time of the Leicester murders and it is full moon tonight!!!! Could very well be a werewolf. They also gleams that Willam Battys Circus was is town when the Leicester murders occured and in Camden the Circus arrived a couple of days ago!!!! When Sir James joins them he agrees and tells them to seek out Iakk, the smith in the cellar and the circus quickly after that, thiese slayings of the innocent must be stopped. To Mortimer he tells him to seek out the Turk, he can help, but always have a price, sometimes it is too steep, but he can help.

The Turk
They meet the Turk in a room. As they near him they see his face is made of sheets of delicate wood and the joints on his wooden fingers, gleaming steel. He wears flowing robes and a turban and his voice is cold and machinelike. They ask for help with the possible werewolf problem and he in turn ask for a game of Chess, Mortimers agrees but is told that the outcome will decide the price. Rasmus who plays Mortimer rolled aces every freaking roll and won easily!!! The Turk tells him the price will only be a small favor and gives him a piece of papyrus. It is written in English albeit in some old form and titled. The Ritual of Lycanthropic Binding. It takes an hour to complete the ritual and includes silver placed on the edges of a engraved circle, their first Binding!!! Thanking the Turk they seek out Iakk in the cellar.
In a damp warm cave with a steamengine fanning the belchers 6 smiths toil endlessly in a huge smithy. Sounds of beaten steel rings out and the walls are studded with weapons of all kind. A rough man greets them, wanting to know what they are looking for .Suddenly he interrupts them and pulls out an ornamented dagger. He wants to know if they like it. Sir James really likes it the other 2 not so much.
The answer decides the prices for the silver weapons they are buying!!!!! They pull out the Witch Eye and when looked at, Iakk looks different. Smallish, hairy with oversized arms and 2 small red eyes, a Boggart. A Boggart is a fey smith which feed of the admiration for his products when in our world, hence the differences in price hehe..
Stocking up they leave for William Battys Circus!!!!

William Battys Circus
They come to a huge lawn. A circus with bright lights, wagons and stands selling sweets have made camp here. A huge ferris wheel lights up the sky in many colours and hundreds of circus goers mill about the place in a joyful mood. They scan the posters and the headliners: The Wolfman, The Bearded lady, The Amazing Randolphos Knife extravaganza and The Indian Card Magician Rhamu.
The go to see the Wolfman, probaly too obvious but still!!! They are warned that what they will see will shred their minds etc. Inside they see a room of mirrors and a cheesy show with mirrors used to affect the sight of the transforming wolfman, if this is the werewolf something is wrong.
Then it is the bearded Lady which is well a man with fake beard, not much to ad there.
Outside they see a black man inspecting the circus. They ask around and learn that it is William Batty, the owner. Using streetwise they learn that he was once the star attraction of the circus with his act: The African Wol,f where he transformed into a man-wolf and ate raw flesh!!!! They have found their target ( or so they think )!! They greet the man and ask if he would have the time to tell of his act, great as it was!!! He is happy to be recognized after all these years and even wants to give a private showing with the story behind his all to real act.
The party thinks he has seen their deception and wants to get rid of them but agree to meet him is his private wagon one hour later.
They quickly scout out his wagon and decide to break in. Mortimer begins inscribing a circle with warding symbols and putting silver coins at the edges, they want to trap the werewolf with the Ritual of Lycanthropic Binding. One hour later they meet up with William Batty outside his wagon, Nakamura hides under the wagon, if things get out of hand. It is getting late and the last circus goers are waiting for the fireworks at midnight, not many minutes away.
Inside the wagon William Batty stops, looks around, but is persuaded to enter. He enters the circle of Lycantropic Warding and leaves it just as easily hehe. He is not the werewolf but demands to know what is going on, why have they drawn on his floor and placed silver coins on their drawing!!! They avoid the truth by telling him that something dark stirs within his circus!!!
This was so cool, anxious players ready to fight but no werewolf here
Suddenly the fireworks go off and a notice roll reveals a wolf howl amidst the sounds of fireworks. Nakamura spots a wolflike creature emerging from a wagon, the sign on the wagon says: The Indian Card Magician Rhamu!!! It darts away from the circus and runs on all fours through an alleyway, partly concealed by the smoke of the fireworks..
This was an incredible cool part of the session. There were clues in the Indian Magician Wagon and in his demeoner and if they investigated him first, it would have been solved a lot quicker but am happy that they did not as the roleplaying was great..

Chasing the wolf
Sounds like a chase but not really...
They chase the wolfbeast through the dark alleyways. They come to a small church. A bobby lies in a pool of blood, throat ripped out. The door to the church is open and they hear gunshots and wolfhowls. Nakamura is faster than the obese Mortimer and elderly James and enters the rooftop before them.
On the slated roof a huge man wolf with blood dripping fangs chases a constable who is firing his revolver wildly. The rain has made the roof slippery but Nakamura is undaunted. The closes with the fearful creature and moves cautiosly across the rain wet roof and attacks!!! He has some silver embedded sheets of cloth over his hands and hits the creature shaken it!!!!
When Mortimer and Sir James arrives they too assult the creature with sorcerous magic and taunts!!! They quickly realize than only silver hurts the fiend but both avoid the mind numbing fear brough on by the sight of the Werewolf. Mortimer even slips on the roof twice and only luck and some good rolls saves him from falling down to the streets below. The werewolf kills the constable but is hit hard by the martial arts of Nakamura and retreats to another roof some 10 ft. away. Shot by a lucky shot by Sir James the werewolf is sent down the roof but manages to cling on to the edge of the roof.
Now only wanting to get away, it lets go and drops to the streets below. It hit the tiles hard and is shaken by the impact. Another shot by our group sends it unconsious to the ground, where it transforms into a small indian man. They leave the place quickly and locks up the creature in the dungeons of The Kerboros Club.
Next day a frightened Indian man cries to be set free. They question him and learn that he was bitten during the last full moon near a village called Bloom in Leicester, and while he could not resist the change, he could make sure to kill everyone he attacked to avoid the curse from spreading. Sir Charles informs tham that since it yesterday was full moon the curse cannot be reversed ( by slaying the responsible werewolf before the next full moon the curse is lifted). Sometimes a Kerberan must make awful choices, the group agrees and the werewolf is put out of its troubled misery.
Sir James uses his connection edge, he wants to see the Scotland Yard archives. He is told to come late next night. There he can study the files in secret perhaps learning more of the Werewolf near Bloom. He is warned though, Special Branch have taken an interest in the killings near Bloom as well, and Special Branch hates Kerberans!!!
Awesome session, heavy roleplaying and the setting is really coming into its own, and 3 xp were awarded

(23/4-2012) 6th of April 1861: The Trainride and The Cornington Werewolf
The Trainride
Having learned that Rhamu, the Indian Card Magician was bitten by a wolf like creature close to the Cornington Estate, near the city of Bloom, Leicester our heroes stock up on silver and make preparations for a lenghty trainride to Bloom. Sir James enter Scotlant Yard and their archives. He finds that the many travelers the last 2 years have vanished without a clue. Satisfied about the information he returns with the news!
On the Train station they board the train. Mortimer have paid for a first class seat. While waiting they see 3 men enter the train. They wear long grey military style coats and high hats, probaly Special Branch which have also taken an interest in the disappearences (warned by his connection Chief Investigator Pemberton see above)
The Tophats (slang for Special Branch) also enters First Class and sends a family away, the family are terrified by the Tophats. Mortimer tries to gleam some clues from papers the leader is reading, but is discovered. He is told to attend to HIS own business and are told the name of the leader, Agent Edginton who shows his credentials to back his veiled threat.
The family is sent back to coach and are a bit out of place among the rabble of society (the other players hehe) Especially Seamus gives them a hard time sharpening his knives in front of them and telling the boy that the terrors under his bed are very real. The boy and woman are though given the seat of Nakamura and Sir James, as an act of courtesy but not Seamus, he just does not care.
The whole Trainride took 45 minutes of game time with banter and cool roleplaying from the players, this is a short recap but the setting and the players are really playing well together.

The Cornington Werewolf
The weapon seen on a Tophat
The come to Bloom, a lazy ex-miner village. The Tophats try to get out first but Seamus pushes his way past, roughly. He is ordered by the Tophats to wait, but they have to run after him. Agent Edginton tells him that he does not push agents of the crown, lest consequences will be enforced. Seamus has the hindrance mean and refuses telling them to go to hell. The Tophats inform him of their nature and warns him that they will have words if he presses the matter. The leader shows a pair of handcuffs and a service revolver inside his coat. Another agent pulls out a huge multi barreled Gatling pistol powered by a small steamfurnace. The players see the weapon and wants it bad!!!!
They talk to a carriage driver who tells them that the only boarding house is the pub close to the station. Alas the Tophats enter the Pub before the players, and when asked for a room the barmaid shakes her head somewhat scared (despite they see a lot of free roomkeys on a shelf behind her) .The Tophats must have closed it down for their own purposes!!!! They ask her of the Cornington estate and are warned that the place is cursed, Lord Corningtons family was murdered some years back and though suspected, no evidence was found of the lords involvement. He moved away but recently he returned and the villagers thinks him and his estate cursed. She does tell them that they can stay with her sister Harriet a couple of miles from the village.
They come to the house of Harriet and her seven children and are invited to stay in the barn with her sheep. Mortimer begin telling her that his business as a silk merchant must surely secure him a place in the house. Suddenly enamored by the heavyset Mortimer HE is invited in and her children must sleep in the barn. As the evening passes he is invited to share her bed, which he gladly accepts.
Next morning they leave Harriet ( who has invited herself to London) and come to the Cornington Estate. The garden was once beautiful with animals cut from plants. But having been poorly maintained when the Lord was away the animals looks bloated and somewhat evil!!!!. In the courtyard an elderly man (The Lord) is talking to some workers doing renovations on the estate. Our party had decided to play the role of a local historian from London ( Sir James), with the monetary backer (Mortimer), and servants (Nakamura and Seamus). Sir James and the Lord begins talking about the history of the estate and his family. The Lords history actually fits the line of events, werewolf related, that the players were hoping for. Mortimer ask to use the lavatory and while entering the estate he notices a looked door to the cellars. He picks the lock and enters a narrow winding staircase. He can actually hear animals sounds from below. In an old winecellar he sees a cage with 4 huge wolves. But the most terrifying about the scene is the remains of the animal food, humans!!!
He rushes up and joins the party, looking slightly scared. The party suddenly begins questioning the Lord of his familys death and he tells them, angered, that he did not kill them (a lie they notice) and suddenly they spot a carriage. From a window they see Agent Edginton staring at them!!! They tell the Lord that the Special Branch is coming. Scared he runs into the house with the players both eafer to get away from the Tophats!!! Flustered and and out of options the Lord now only wants to get completely away from the players and their questions, and the approaching Tophats. He suddenly transforms!!!!. Flesh turn into steel hard muscle covered by fur, arms into claws and head into a huge wolflike snout, the Werewolf have revealed itself!!! And on top of that a bigger werewolf than they have seen in London, fully in control of its transformation.
Battle begins with the werewolf being pummeled by Nakamura who does a point of fatigue to the towering creature which is also shaken by a taunt of Sir James (who is scared of the creatures. They gang up on it but still Seamus misses the wily werewolf!!!! Unshaken the werewolf take flight to the staircase, running down while chased by Seamus and Sir James!!! Nakamura locks the door to stop the Tophats and summons the power of wind to aid him while Mortimer summons a fiery demonic shield around Nakamura (failing once and loosing 1 sanity as he uses demonic magic). Then he and Mortimer also chases the werewolf. The werewolf stops to attack Seamus which is throwing silver knives at it!!! Seamus is raked by a claw and wounded, while Nakamura quickly takes his place to combat the wolf creature, but is also raked for 2 wounds!!!! (luckily he soaks both wounds)
There we have it. 1 player frightened, 1 player wounded, 1 player down one insanity, 1 players surrounded by a demonic shield, 1 werewolf fatigued all fighting in the cramped staircase leading down to the cellar of the Cornington estate, good clean fun and quite a cliffhanger

(7/5-2012) 7th of April 1861: The Cornington Werewolf pt. 2 and Back in London
The Cornington Werewolf pt. 2
We left our Kerberans at the stairs facing Lord Cornington, the master werewolf responsible of the werewolf incident in London. They know that Lord Cornington is in complete control of its transformation (takes apx. 2 years as a werewolf) and have tried to flee to the cellar. Faced with all the groups might it again takes to the stairs getting downstairs slightly wounded by Nakamuras fierce martial blows. Nakamura follows the werewolf and come to a room cloaked in darkness, only 4 pairs of red eyes can be seen in the darkness. Well that and growls..
When Seamus emerges with the torch they can see an old winecellar with broken racks and a huge rusted cage containing 4 ferocious wolves. A table with a cleaver and human remains and a large syringe stands in the corner. The cage has been opened by the werewolf but the wolves are fearful of their "master" and covers in the corners. Undaunted Nakamura attacks!!! He is guided by the voice of Sir James ( and his Team Leader edge) and a joker and wild attacks ( for a whopping +6 ). He jumps up and aim for the head, hitting the werewolf square on the jaw with a subdual punch!!!! +8 to damage and the werewolf is for 23 in damage ( forcing a soak to stay on its feet). The other attacks, a knee to the groin hits, sending the werewolf unconsious to the floor!!!!! The scent of the werewolf fades as the werewolf transforms to the elderly naked Lord Cornington, and the wolves attack!!!
As the group enters the fray and begins to finish off the wolves they hear voices on the stairs, the Tophats. Sir James blocks the stairs playing the role of a senoir citizen excellently!!!! Back in the cellar they group locates an exit, having fumbled for a round as Mortimer rolled double 1 telling the group he is certain that the exit was located the wrong place. Seamus enters the exit hole when they hear Sir James being pushed into the wall of the stairs, causing a shaken condition. The leader of Tophats, Agent Edgington pulls out a crown of thorns and prays: "Cold mistress of the Night, shine your unforgiven light upon the worthless pawns" and suddenly a white light, moonlight, can be seen in the room!!! Luckily for the group he fails his casting roll to confuse them!!! Agent Edginton sneers and tells his 2 other agents to kill the old man if he resists any more.
Nakamura runs to Sir James aid, hoisting him up on his shoulder and fleeing!!!!! He is chased by Agent Steel, wielder of the multi barreled steamtech weapon shouting " In pursuit sir" and fires the Gatling pistol!!!!! The roar of the 6 barreled weapon echoes through the cellar and Nakamura is wounded by the hail of bullets. Cursing his slower allies to hell (mean edge ) Seamus re-enters the cellar he was fleeing from. Quick as a burmese python he sends a knife flying through the air. Through 2 set of bars ( the cage ) the knife imbeds itself in the throat of Agent Edgington, killing him!!!! In the beginning of the nest round Agent Steel it hit through the eye with a new knife thrown by Seamus, death is instant!!!! They capture the last Tophat, who faints at the grisly sight of the human remains at the table.
They take the naked Lord Cornington upstairs. Mortimer, aided by Sir James, creates a binding circle to contain the werewolf and lock up the last Tophat. When Lord Cornington wakes up he immidiately tests the barrier, opposed by Mortimers occult skill, the circle holds... They talk to the Lord hoping to learn if he has created more werewolves. He tells them that his master, the Devil himself, have chosen him to spread the evil and the wolves downstairs are part of his experiment to plant the seed of lycanthropy among the populace. The Lord also tries to get the players to set him free, playing the innocent old man but in vain!!!!
They decide to put him down as the mad werewolf he is and Mortimer takes aim, getting the drop on the werewolf and it has to small a space to maneauver. I inform him that the shot will break the circle if he does so, but he has faith in his shot!!! He hits the Lord but rolled 8 in damage with +4 from the drop!!! Nakamura steps in and punches the Lord into unconsiousness!!!
The wake up the last Tophat. They have been discussing killing him but especially Nakamura and Sir James hates the notion and Sir James comes up with a new plan. The take him to the werewolf asking him if he will aid them and himself. He will come up with a story to his superiors that they found the werewolf, it killed the other 2 agents. Some visitors ( the party ) fled when the fighting broke out and with a lucky shot he killed the werewolf!!!! The agent steels himself and nods, plausible story and one he will support. He even kills the werewolf with his own revolver, topping the false story with a grain of truth!!!
As they choose to let the tophat, Agent Hammond, live and came up with a great cover story I told them to write his name on their sheets as a future contact.
They leave the estate walking for a day to get complete away from the village and next day board the train to London...

Back in London
Back in London Mortimer and Nakamura seeks out Dr. Archibald Monroe, and gets boozed up. They all meet back at the Kerboros Club an are met by their sponsor Sir Charles. He is impressed with their work and especially Nakamura who is singled out by Sir James as a great fighter. They show him the Steamgun and he is surprised. He tells them the story of Isambard Brunel and they think that the tophats have taken Brunel as he is the only one that could make such a small steam marvel!!!!
