Chapter 4: The Legacy
(11/5-09) 21 Flamerule 1373: The Trial of Runegar, Resurrection of Tealgar and Talon the Dragon meets a dragon slayer!!
The Trial of Runegar
Two days after he is taken to the court of the white bull, to a central room. In the room is a witness bench and a raised platform where a black roped magister will preside over the trial. The magister, named Borrus, explain that the trial will be a contested trial where each of the accused ( the paladin guard who threatened him is also there, also bound) will be able to defend and prosecute the other. Both Runegar and the guard accept these terms and they are asked whether they will do it themselves or choose a seneschal who will do it for them. Runegar will defend himself but will let Elbryn prosecute the paladin. The paladin choses Prior Athosar, the priest who spat at the feet of Wythmord, as his chosen seneschal to perform both defense and prosecution. Witnesses are accepted and a black clad wizard from the citys guild are also present to act as witness as the trial is about magical assult.
Runegar is charged with magical assult and murder attempt. He admits to the magical assult and hence only the murder attempt will be discussed. the paladin guard have been charged with brandishing a weapon without just cause, which he pleads not guilty to.
The trial was very extensive where the seneschals each attacked the others with fine words and subtle remarks. It was high octane and heavy roleplaying from Peter/Runegar Rasmus/Elbryn Claus/Wythmord and off course Prior Athosar (me ). It was set up in three rounds with a diplomacy roll at the end of each round modified by circumstance bonuses for usable facts and roleplaying, with Runegar/peter getting the highest as he really did an exelent job at defending himself. He won the rounds 2-1 !!!! and the magister reduced the sentence to bodily harm and he was fined 2000 gp and was exiled from Waterdeep for 5 years. He paid the fine and was happy for escaping a heavy prison sentence. the guard pleaded guilty to his charges as he realized that Runegar had made a mistake and was willing to accept it. All in all a cool experience
The Resurrection of Tealgar
The heroes returned to the temple next night and after having communed with his deity, Wythmord knew for a fact that Tealgar desired to return to the realms. She is convinced but still it is a very costly spell to cast and Tealgar does not even worship Selune. She then tasked the heroes to return next night with the right reasons for resurrecting him, the right reasons for the heroes and for Selune.
Next night they again return to the temple and talk about the greatness of Tealgar and his goodness and his willingness to help all good and neutral creatures and his prowess in adventuring for the right reasons. She seems convinced but to their chagrin she says that they must return next night and think about which pledges or oaths they must agree to in return for his resurrection.
Next night they return and are shown to the rooftop, where the arched roof resemble a moon. There they see 3 werecreature hybrids. A hulking werebear, a weretiger and a werecat each chanting to the moon. In front of them stands Moonmistress Naergrathe, wearing a robe of metallic starlight. Wind is in her hair and the rays of the moon illuminates her body, she prays in celestial: "Mistress of the Moon, Mother of the Lycanthropes send your servant to hear these beings oaths". A shimmering portal of moonlight opens and a beautiful creature flies through. The lower body of the large creature is snakelike and the upper body is that of a stunning female with great wingd made of shimmering feathers. they recognize the being as a half-celestial Lilend, a creature of the upper planes. Moonmistress Naergrathe says: " Mighty Naera servant of the goddess hear these mortals and judge their cause". Elbryn and Wythmord steps forward each talking about what they would do in the future for Selune. Elbryn promises his sword-arm if they ever should need it and wythmord promises to allways go out of his way to help good or neutral Lycanthropes. The Lilend nods to the Moonmistress and returns to her homeplane.
Naergrathe asks of the party relevant information about Tealgar and when satisfied starts the resurrection and suddenly they are blinded by a ray of moonlight. When they can see again Tealgar is lying naked before them, he is confused to what has happened and they fill in the blanks and leave the temple.
Talon the dragon meets a dragon slayer
The next day he meets up with Runegar who had been exiled from waterdeep hehe and they wait until their friends contact them from waterdeep.
Back in Waterdeep Elbryn and Wythmord have located a ship, the Searat!!! Captained by a obese halfling with a hook for a a hand and his crew of merry men. They barter for passage to the Moonshae Isles and agree on a price even getting a good deal if they would help cure Sharess disease (sexual transmitted diseases) which have been afflicting the crew. They are to set sail next morning....
The session took 3 hours and the party is still level 16

(4/5-09) 18 flamerule 1373: The "great" city of Waterdeep
The great city of Waterdeep
The Lawbringers have left behind the foul mines of Dekanter and have rested close to the city of Ironford. They travel southwest towards Waterdeep where they hope to find a boat to the Moonshae Isles and get Tealgar resurrected, preferably by a a true resurrection spell which will not make them loose xp and will resurrect Tealar even though his body is gone.
The pass the horse-city of Amphail and next day at dusk they see the enormous city of Waterdeep. They enter it alongside several dozens of caravans. As Talon nears the gate he must suddenly make a will save. He rolls 35 but fails!!! He does not want to enter the city. The others try to persuade him and especially Elbryn cannot understand why Talon suddenly refuses to enter the city. Runegar and Wythmord recognizes the effect and it is an antipathy spell. Wythmord tries to help the dragon by granting him another save but alas, the dragon cleric refuses to enter the city. In fact he refuses to even stay close to the city and agrees to letting the other players finish business and come for him when they are ready.
Elbryn asks a guard why his buddy cannot enter the city and are told if he indeed is a dragon it must be the ward laid by Angheiron some 500 years ago that bars the city from dragons. They thank the guard and enter the city.
Inside they see several dozen different races, all living and co-excisting within the walls of the city. They see priests of a hundred religions each preaching the dogma of their chosen faiths. The flip a coin to a street urchin and asks for direction to the temple of Lathander. They, after a lesser spending spree, are escorted to the castle ward where most of hte major temples are situated.
The come to a mighty cathedral, 9 large flat towers, surrounded by yellow-ish walls. The spires of the Morning!!! They see several symbols above the door. The recognize the symbols as heraldric symbols belonging to 3 major orders within the faith of Lathander: The order of the Aster, paladins. The order of the sun soul, monks and the symbol of the western based clergy of Lathander. They near the gate when they are met by handsome paladin guards, one greets them friendly, especially Wythmord who is a fellow Lathanderite. That changes drastically when another guard starts bleeding from his eyes and draws a sword, pointing at Elbryn " stand back evildoer, no evil shall set foot at the spires of the morning". What has happened? The guard with the sword closes the distance betwwen himself and the party and shouts to his brothers that this one is pure evil and the other guards shout for reinforcements. Crossbowers quickly man the battlements aiming at the party. Then Runegar loses it, he hates being threatened and curses at the paladin and even manages to insult the paladins honor, big mistake!!! The guard advances, also cursing at the dwarf wizard. Elbryn tries to get between them and after a hot debate the paladin agrees to let the matter pass if Runegar apologizes for the damage done to the paladins honour. He refuses it and the verbal threaths escalates to violence. Runegar conjures wings and flies up, seeking higher ground. That provokes the paladin who calls him weak and a coward, bad idea as the enraged wizard conjures an orb of force and attacks the paladin, sending him flying through the air, dying!!! They hear the sound of 15 crossbows letting their deadly cargo speeding towards Runegar, 5 hits and apx. 30 in damage. Elbryn steps in between the combatants seeking diplomacy instead of combat and succeeds, the paladins only consider Runegar an enemy and the other guards regroup. The crossbowers again attack the dwarf wizard this time hitting him 6 times apx. 34 in damage. Wythmord runs to the side of the dying paladin and heals him, saving his life. Suddenly a young arrogant priest ,with monks and paladins flanking him, opens the gate. He demands to know what has happened and they talk for a while. The party have now found out that the item, The True Life of Thoon, makes the aura of the bearer overwhelmingly evil when looked at by a detect evil. They try to reason with the priest but he refuses to listen to their "lies" and says that he will inform the city-guards of the murder-attempt. He even spits on the ground in front of Wythmord claiming that no true Lathanderite will knowingly agree to a friends person being befouled by a evil item. Wythmord leaves immidiately barely controlling his anger.
Wythmord , after Runegar has calmed down, informs the paladins at which inn they are staying so that the city guards will know where to find them. Wythmord then hurries to the temple of Tyr hoping to find a priest who can resurrect his buddy Tealgar. Runegar and Elbryn returns to the Bronze Goblet inn to recuberate.
Wythmord runs through the city comming to a gigantic temple close to the mountain which rests at the base of the city. The temple is awe inspirering, 50 ft. tall white-polished walls. 2 100 ft. statues of Tyr which hold the impressive gate. He sees 2 guards and smooth talks them into getting a senior priest. A younger priest, a certain Belphras Allumen, comes to greet Wythmord. He can help his friend but he is only able to cast raise dead. He begins a longer talk but is interrupted again and again by Wythmord. This foils any diplomacy attempts to perhaps impress the priest and meeting a more capable priest . The priest decides that Wythmord is disrespectfull and dismisses him. Wythmord will not even know if the the temple were able to help him hehe.
He tosses a coin to a urchin and is shown the temple of Oghma, the font of Knowledge, which doubles as the citys great library. He arrives too late and is told by the guards that the library/temple is closed but is open tomorrow. He returns to the inn and he and Elbryn and Runegar sleeps well.
Next day at dawn a knock is heard on the door, the innkeeper!!! He looks frightened and warns the players that guards have surrounded the inn. Down in the commen room a group of guards are waiting for Runegar. They are led by an Arwar (seargeant) and a priest of Tyr. Runegar is led away by the guards after they remove all of his magical equipment, which is left with Elbryn. He is taken to the dungeon beneath the temple of Tyr, where more dangerous magical foes are held. They learn later that the trial will be held in 2 days in the court of the white bull.
Wythmord , desperately seeking a true resurrection spell for Tealgar, seeks out the Font of Knowledge. He passes a market filled with scribes and sages peddling information for a price off course. He enters the library and quickly find a acolyte tending to the needs of the librarys customers. After a talk (and a good diplomacy roll) the acolyte fetches Hycis Gentile chief librarian of the Font of Knowledge. He is old but knowledable but not a cleric himself. He also informs Wythmord that most of the temple is run by experts and not real clerics. But he has a sliver of information: The high Priestess of selune is rumored to be extremely powerful and perhaps she can help. Wythmord thanks the old man, for the first time someone have actually been of real assistance.
Wythmord finds the elengated temple of Selune, House of the Moon, not far from the great library. He passes several statues of werecreatures (good aligned hehe) and is shown into the courtyard. Theere he sees a poorhouse staffed by selunites and is met by Feluna Moonstar, who look with keen interest at the handsome cleric. After a somewhat steamy conversation he is shown to the temple. In a central room filled with sofas and lounging were creatures he is greeted by Moonmistress Neagrathe, a purring, sexy ,classy human female. She listens to his tale and informs him that to return the next day with the rest of his available party with certainty that Tealgar even wants to come back, as they do not know for certain ( out of play they do, but not in play)
Later next morning Wythmord along with Elbryn casts commune and summon planar ally to determine whether or not Tealgar even wishes to come back. He answers are mostly unclear and the planater they summon tells them to look deep in their own hearts, there they will find the right answer....

(20/4-09) 18 flamerule 1373: The inner sanctum of Vespian Thoon
The inner sanctum of Vespian Thoon
The mighty Lawbringers have defeated the Quell cleric and the diseased elder brain of Thoon and travel further, encountering a foul bone and sinew door. Talon , being the best searcher, finds a magical trap on the door but fails to disable it. Runegar" the armored mage" Darkrift makes his way to the door and chants, attacking the enchantment with a dispel magic and succeeds in unbinding it.
They open the door and find themselves in a room with 4 statues, Vespian Thoon, and a door opposite of the door they came through. Being adventurers and hence alert they search ahead looking for more foul traps. It was great fun as i rolled the search die and made sure that they moved their minis accordingly and asked if they were sure that the square they entered was the one they wanted. It made them anxious and they expected traps to be sprung at every moment, none did off course hehe. Elbryn tries to destroy the statues but fails and the other characters warn him not to make noize and he aborts his enterprise.
The open the next door and see a vast room. At the other end they see a wall of translucent stone and within it a statue of a smiling charismatic man, Vespian Thoon. In the middle of the room they see a small alter with a golden book resting. Talon detects magic and both the wall ond the book radiates overwhelming magic. Wythmord detects evil and both the book and the wall is overwhelmingly evil. He warns the party and they, very slowly, nears the book searching frantically looking for traps, again they find none. Suddenly in the walls they see ghostly heads gliding nearer, mens faces!!!! They stop within the walls and hover. The party hear voices " Do not read the book" but Runegar advances and reads the book.
It is the life history of Vespian Thoon. It tells a story of the Vespian Thoon who was born in s small village in Netheril 1777 years ago. His potential was discovered by a arcanist from one of the floating cities in Netheril and inducted in the magical arts and soon advanced in the arcanists ranks. He loved aiding the poor and the commen men of Netheril and used his magic to better the crops of farmers and aiding the beggars in his realm. He achived a following who saw the goodness of Vespian Thoon and they were given the mines of Dekanter where they were tasked with contacting lords of the upper planes to bargain for help to the downtrodden of Netheril. Among his followers Thoon was looked upon as a saint an his following grew. At the end he became sainted by his followers and achieved demi-godhood. That event was seen by an Extremely jealous god, Amanautor the Netherese god of the sun, foresight and Law. Amanautor began attacking the poor and the downtrodden to flush out Vespian Thoon from his abode, the mines of Dekanter. He succeeded and Thoon agreed to fight the jealous Amanautor if he promised not to attack more of the poor. Amanautor agreed and they met on the pillar of the gods where Amanautor killed Vespian Thoon. His followers were saddened and re-built the mines in thoons honour.
The Lawbringers smile when they hear the story. The mines are filled with madness and death and does not match the so-called life history of Vespian Thoon. they think back to what spawned the adventure, a murdered priest of the dead god Amanautor and what they learned as they spoke with him via a speak with dead spell:
-Q: WHO ARE THE KILLERS A: THEY ARE THE SEEKERS WHO MUST BE SOUGHT
-Q: WHY HAVE OUR NAME BEEN CARVED INTO YOUR HAND A: ONLY THE BRINGERS OF LAW MAY STOP THE SEEKERS FROM SEEKING
-Q:WHAT DO THE KILLERS SEEK A: THEY SEEK TO CONSUME, CONSUME MADNESS AND DEATH, TO RESURRECT AND USURP
Q: WHO ARE THEY A: A BROTHERHOOD, ARMED WITH THE SLAYING DAGGER, THEY ARE SEEKERS WHO MUST BE SOUGHT
Q:WHERE HAVE THEY GONE A: THE SEEKERS SEEK THE SEARCHERS SEARCH THE TRACKERS TRACK. SEEK SEARH TRACK THE PILLAR, THE PILLAR IS THE GATE, GATE TO WHERE MADNESS LIE AND DEATH AWAITS
Q:WHAT SHOULD WE DO A: THRICE WERE HIS HEARTS AND FROM THE HEARTS A ROAD TO MADNESS AND DEATH AND POWER UNTOLD LIES, HIDDEN THEY ARE. 1 BEATS SO THAT I MAY HEAR IT, BEATS IN THE MINES OF DEKANTER
They are not the brighest knives in the drawer and hate my cryptic messages but they have gathered that they were searching for a "heart" which probaly meant something important to those who had killed the priest. Perhaps the book. They also know that the killers also are searching for the hearts. And madness and death have been mentioned in the cryptic answers and that is exactly what they have encountered in the mines, and that does not correspond with the history of Thoon.
Runegar feels a stange tug in his mind, he can feel that he can send his consiousnes into the book and pry open its hidden secrets. he chooses not to and the party instead search the tranparent stone wall, but find that is appearently is hard stone somehow made transparent and the ghostly images still linger within.
Talon decides to investigate it further and reads from the book probing it with his awesome willpower and makes a will save. His mind is attacked by the hidden power of the book, but he has a awesome will save and succeeds handsomely. The book convulses and shreds and reforms into a foul book of bones, blood, sinew and entrails. The bleeding book now has a new cover and it reads: The True Life of Vespian Thoon.
The wall turns black as oil have been poured in it and the ghostly heads becomes evil snarling visages bound together by a fog of oily madness. They enter the room where the Lawbringers are the Nighmare Visages scream: "They are no other gods than thoon, thoon, thoon" and initiative is rolled.
Runegar acts first and sends snakes of flame towards his allies. They are enveloped in flames who will scorch their enemies, fire shield mass. The Nightmare Visages flow forward, the faces contorted with rage. Their many enraged faces look towards enemies brandishing holy symbols and see both Talon and Tealgar within reach. Its smoky tentacles reach Tealgar and his flesh disentegrates and worse are the draining effect. It drains 11 points of intelligence, ripping his intellect from him, ruducing his mind to a barren field. His allies look on in horror as Tealgars body is pulled into the creature and only his equipment is left back, Tealgar is dead. Each attack provokes a fiery burst from Tealgars fire shield but with its incorporeality and spell resistance it is unhurt. The other beast attacks the Kobold cloistered cleric Talon but the wily dragonwrought evades the attacks. Elbryn moves into position and throws his greatsword hiiting both undead creatures but their incorporeality saves them, or so its seems... Elbryn has a maneauver which allows him to reroll a miss and since he missed because of an attack roll he tries again and this time he hits both undead, shredding undead matter and severely damaging them. Wythmord casts a moon bolt spell which hits both creatures but they save and nothing happens. Talon being ever sneaky senses that they must rely on Elbryns melee power and casts righteous wrath of the faithful granting all allies +3 att +3 dmg and an extra attack.
Next round Runegar dimension doors to safety, exiting the door in the room with the 4 statues. The Nighmare Visage next to Elbryn attacks him and again flesh evaporates but the draining has no effect since he is protected by Life´s grace, which renders him immune to undead special attacks. The other Visage moves closer to Wythmord, who is sure he can see a ghostly face within the undead resembling the dead dwarf Tealgar. Its attacks hit but the Cleric of Lathander is also protected by the lifes grace spell and he is not in real danger. Elbryn attacks wildly and succeeds in killing a Nightmare Visage ending its unreal life. Wytmord uses two turning attempts and from his body springs a burst of positive energy, damaging the undead slightly. Talon casts the lifes grace on himself not wanting to die as Tealgar did.
Next round Runegar touches a rune on his armor and in his hands he suddenly has seven force bolts shaped as lightning. They hit the creature and tears away undead matter. The undead creature again attacks Wythmord but again with no particular success. Elbryn moves closer and attacks but this time its ghostly body evades the attack. Wythmord has earlier on cast a spell on a potion bottle which radiates a light, harmfull to undead and evil outsiders. the light burns the undead enough to destroy the foul creature. They are victorious but have lost a party member , Tealgar. They search for him and Runegar, his closest friend, screams" NOOOOOOOOO"
Talon returns to the book which prompted the attack and reads from the true life of Thoon:
It is coorct that he was born in a small village and was taken to an arcanist enclave but he did not care for the poor and downtrodden. He was a master necromancer and was known for his cruelty and his experiments on the poor and helpless, especially children. As he advanced he found something interesting, a hidden plane among the other known planes. He named it the plane of madness, it is later known as the Far Realm and succeeded in opening a gatel to said plane and stepped through closing the gate behind him. He returned one year later vastly more powerful and brimming with the raw power of insanity. He bought, through threats and manipulation, the mines of Dekanter and slew all inhabitants in one horrible night. His power attracted scores of followers and apprentices to his new home where they discovered terrible secrets within the plane of madness. He even succeeded in infusing his mines with raw matter from the insanity plane. The mines were altered and infused with madness and altered by Thoon himself with his foul necrotic arts. He became feared and sometime during the years he achieved quasi godhood. That brought on the attension of Amanautor the god of the sun and law. He challenged the fledging god Thoon to battle. Thoon being crafte saw his empending doom and shed his divinity into three books. One remained in the mines while his two favored apprentices were tasked with fleeing with the others. They must remain hidden until the time when the chosens ones will come and set Thoons words free. Then he battled Amanautor on the top of the pillar of The gods. amanautor slew the prince of Madness and ended his life... For now!!!
In the end of the book is a verse which should help the chosen ones find the remaining books:
Find the book, the book they took
Hear it ring, lying with the first tall king
Around you poke, poke among FFolk
Another of my cryptic messages but they succede in several know. checks and concluded that the Ffolk must be the ethnic group of men living on the Moonshae Isles. And they must find the book with the first of their kings, the High Kings....
Wythmord casts an earthquake spell on the portal room, not wanting others to stumple upon the foul mine, and as the room comes crashing down they teleport away. The opt for Waterdeep, perhaps they can get Tealgar resurrected in Watedeep and find a boat to the Moonshae Isles.
The session took 3 hours and the party gained a level and are now level 16

(13/4-09) 18 flamerule 1373: The Insane layer of Thoon, Madcrafters of Thoon and Thoonac elder brain
The insane Layer of Thoon
Runegar/Peter Tealgar/Henrik was not present at this battle extravaganza-session
The Lawbringers push on ready for action. They trigger severeal deadly traps but succeed in avoiding death and find strange carvings on the walls: men worshipping a man standing in a dark glow as well as men being transformed into tentacled creatures. They find the entreance to the next level and stand before a hideous door made of bone and sinew.
They buff up and Elbryn opens the door. Inside they see something horrible have transforned the level. The walls and floor, once proud stone now a bleeding mass of cancerous flesh and flowing necrotic material. They hear they constant muttering of mad voices: Thoon, Thoon...
In the room the see 2 more of the foul doors and standing guard in front of them are 2 skeletons draped in robes of darkness. They wield scytes and a dark sinister intelligence can be seen in the skulls.
Wythmord turns undead but the attack does not affect the undead Entrotic Reapers as their hd were too high for the mortal cleric. Elbryn moves into the room and slashes at the undead tearing off bits of bone. He feels something unnatural invading his mind but resist the attack of madness created by the unsettling atmosphere of these foul halls. Talon quickly protects his friends with a spell. The Reapers charge Elbryn and spays his blood on the floor. When the scythe hits he feels a draining but a protetive spell cast by Wythmord ealier evades the draining.
The battle is onesided as the Lawbringers are too powerful and soon a reaper falls dead to the floor. Then a door opens and 3 tentacled foul-looking battlepriest enter the room sending waves of willpower through the room. The Lawbringers high saves well yes saves them again. Elbryn engages the Thoon Flayers who try to hold the elf with hold person, but again they fail. Elbryn moves into position and sends his blade flying through the room (a warblade maneauver) it rips though the flayers cutting one in two and decapitating another. The last one dies soon afterwards as well as the last Entropic Reaper.
The continue and passes the sleeping room of the flayers finding almost nothing. They pass several doors until the come to another sinew and bone door.
Madcrafters of Thoon
The open it and inside they see a horrible sight; In huge piles against the far wall are rotting bones, heads and entrails. On a table they see heads in various stages of rot and piles of metal limbs and heads are stocked on the walls. The inhabitants of the room is no less foul, 2 half metal skull/half rotting head float around dragging tentacles of sinew along the floor and 2 half skeletons half machine parts with a glowing metal heart inside a barren ribcage. But these abominations are dwarfed by 2 slug-like creatures. They are 15 ft. long, have a mane of cannisters filled with thick green liquid and half their body is a huge maw.
The battle is on, Elbryn flashes forward attacking left and right while Talon and Wythmord hangs back ,chanting to their respective gods and aiding Elbryn in his killing spree. The 2 half skull/ half metal orb Thunderheads attacks with small lightning bolts searing the group again and again while the Soldiers of Thoon, the two skeleton creatures stagger forwards unsheathing arm-axes from their arms and attacking Elbryn. The two slug creatures, Madcrafters of Thoon, vomit Thunderheads at key locations spraying the adjacent squares with pools of acid. The battle is furious and the thoonac creatures manage to inflict a lot of damage to the players through lightning bolts and and acid sprays. Wythmord channels his gods power through a spell and covers the area in holy rain damaging the foul creatures as well as healing Elbryn which Talon assists in. Talon also manages to confuse 4 of the thoonac creatures who acts stange sometimes fleeing sometimes attacking.
Elbryn dances through the carnage and attacks a madcrafter and crits, almost killing the unnatural fiend. Next round he is bitten for 43 in damage as the madcrafter tears at him with an acid filled mouth. The same round he kills the beast and moves closer to the next madcrafter. If tries to flee through a sinew door but is cut down by the enraged Elf. Talon charges a Thunderhead a smites evil which he has not used ever and hits infkicting 34 in damage. Even the healing battery Wythmord throws a fireball and gets in on the melee action. In the end the area is covered in bile and entrails and the Lawbringers are victorious, all of the thoonac creatures are dead. They rummage through the carnage and find lesser trinkets and a portal room. They search it but leave it soon afterwards.
Thoonac elder brain
A myriad of thought filled the mighty creature. Once the brains had been connected to living bodies but now necrotic matter fueled the thoght process of the creature. "Invaders" !!! long has it been since foes have entered their halls, but perhaps these ones are the destined ones. They had to be put to the ultimate test and the minds concentrate willing an armor of power around it. The attackers are allready dead the mass of brains concluded" yes yes" the captured minds within it agreed. It sensed the presence of Arylglyph the Chosen closeby, the quells ability to deny clerics their spells would be helpfull, "yes yes they were doomed" then the elder brain slided beneath the acidic waters of its pool...
The lawbringers travel down a deep corridor until they come to a bend in the road. They peek inside and see a hoge pool of acid and a door tethered to the fleshy walls of the room. Suddenly a mass of decaying brains and tentacles appear in the acid and initiative is rolled. The brain shambles forward after being attacked by Elbryns bow, its sticky tentacles hit the elf smoldering him in a squeeze and burning his skin with acid. Then he feels an invasion of his mind, he feels the true madness of the elder brain and miss his save reducing his wis. by 8 points. His mind is torn but he manages to carve into the abomination with his sword cutting away diseased brain matter. Talon hangs back and casts righteous wrath of the faithfull granting his friends an extra attack. Wythmord withdraws and heals a battered Elbryn. Through the wall a foul being enters. Its alien-like head and body is incorporeal but still it wears a fullplate and a shield. It glides nearer and casts a protective prayer: Anti-life shell, warding its undead body from living creatures. Next round the elven warblade tears into the Elder brain with a full attack again spaying himself and the ground with brain matter. It manages to cling on to life and attacks Elbryn again and again. He misses his save as well as being burned by acid and he slumps to the ground, in deep comatose, having again been touched by its foul mind. Talon sees his friend trouble and closes with a heal-spell allready cast. Elbryn is healed of most wounds as well as being cured of the ability damage, nice job Talon. Next round the Elven warblade, wanting revenge, kill the elder brain with mighty blows of his sword. The quell cleric passes through the walls and enters the hallway where Wythmord stands. It quickens a spell which invokes the power of sound but Wythmord quickly counters it via a magic item. The Quell cleric again casts the sound lance spell and this time he damages wythmord. The quell has come prepared and next round they try to penetrate its spell resistance with spells but fail and it is flying thereby eliminating Elbryns chance to attack it properly. Then it hammers the party with spells. Especially Elbryn and Wythmord are hit hard, blasted with Cold and sound. But Elbryn has a plan, he cannot reach the creature as it is protected by the anti-life spell, but the spell is subject to spell resistance!!!! Wythmord had earlier cast shield of Law on the party, giving Elbryn a spell resistance versus spell cast by chaotic creatures, and the foul entity is indeed chaotic. He jumps up trying to penetrate the antilife shell with his shield of law spell nut fails to overcome the spell. The quell is foul and turns the party and with its special ability manages to sunder Wythmords link with his god, denying him spells.Wythmord becomes worrried!!! The following rounds the party attempt to damage the minion of madness and succeeds as Wythmord had cast a sunbeam spell which allows him to attack it each round with a ray of sunlight. Talon chants and turns into stone by a stonebody spell hoping that his new form will penetrate the antilife shell and flies up towards the heavily warded undead. Suddenly Elbryns gamble pays off, he penetrates the antilife shell and chops at the quell, hitting it and deals an obscene amount of damage. The quell is sorely wounded and is running low on attack spell and tries something desperate. It casts harm and flies down to the elf warblade tounching him and drains his life energy hoping to stay alive for one round and next round kills the elf who is reduced to 1 hp. Its plan fails as Elbryn destroys it next round hehe

(6/4-09) 18 flamerule 1373: Halls of the Dekanter Goblins, The Tinkerman Consortium, Ghostly tutor and Death traps...
Halls of the Dekanter Goblins
The Party eneter the second level of the Dekanter mines, the air tastes metallic and fungi and moss cover the unworked moisture-covered walls. The corridors are silent, almost too silent for the groups taste but the continue down the level. They come to a fungi-covered stone door where they spot a carving hidden under the pink fungi, a miner holding a pick. Underneath a writing have been carved. Wythmord chants for a moment and understands the language, netherese and it says: The Tinkerman Consortium. They open the door with a knock spell thrown by Runegar" The Armored Mage" Darkrift.
The Tinkerman Consortium
Behind the door they see a vast cavern containing 2 buildings and rusted weaponry. Evidently a battle have been fought here along time ago since the weapons are rusted and dust covers the area. Elbryn searches the 2 first buildings and both of them have been barracks, once housing around 50 warriors. Elbryn succeeds in a knowledge(martial) check and knows that something important must have been located here since 50 warriors are a lot to defend the other 2 small buildings. Wythmord and Runegar starts searching with detect magic but find nothing. They find an office where crossbow bolts dot the interior, but nevertheless nothing of value. In the last building, a former residence of a family, they also find signs of struggle. They rummage through a bedroom, where Talon finds a letter hidden in a moldy bed. Upstairs they find a childrens room where furniture and toys have been pushed to the sides and in the middle of the room stands a wooden doll with its head torn off, eerie!!! Talon dares to move forward and push the doll, nothing happens.
Meanwhile Elbryn have been practicing his archery skills on old battered shields sending klank sounds through the corridors. But this bores the restless elf and he moves away from the cavern and suddenly he hears what sound like chalk on a board from a corridor (natural roll of 20).
He returns with the news to the party and they follow his directions continuing down a long corridor. They come to a unworked rough chamber. Elbryn and Talon creeps forward where they see 4 skeletons lying on the floor, one of them still wrapped in a robe untouched by time, probaly magical. They also see scattered silver dust in the room (knowkedge: arcane reveals) that is once was a binding circle) The scene seems staged and they senses a trap. Wythmord detects evil and Talon detects magis, but both find nothing sinister. Wythmord puts on a pair of magical lenses and recognizes the magical proporties of the robe, a robe of Bones. Suddenly they again hear chalk on a board coming from a room on the other side of the cavern. Elbryn investigates and sees a door blocking the room. It is inscribed with a symbol depicting tomes, yhey open the door ready for anything!!!
Ghostly Tutor
On the other side they see a room, 5 benches are where they come in and on the other side are a blackboard and bookshelves lying on the floor, its contents piled in huge stacks on the floor. A ghostly person dressed in a black robe (it looks exactly like the one they found above) appears in front of the blackboard, an elderly mage. It speaks in dwarven" Ahh late as allways" it says "allways knows the language of your enemies my apprentices, Neptar, Rhamon, Brintera, Turun sit down, the leasson is about to begin". The party is confused but appearently the ghost relives its past and they, eager to learn more about the mines, sit down and apologizes for being late to their teacher. The ghost tells them that even though their powers are feeble they have achieved a level where they can summon and bind denizens of the lower planes, specifically devils and this is what this lesson is about
. He quizzes the party in different subjects making them come up with knowledge about devils and their lord as well as "past" failed classes. The ghost is very direct and aggresive even threatening them with the lord of the enclave Vespian Thoon ( They have encountered the name before. They have heard stories about crazed adventurers emerging from the mines, their sanity lost, only muttering Thoon, Thoon ) The whole event was seriously funny as the characters had to play the roles of long dead apprentices and remember their "new" names and try not to perform to poorly or else they would be presented to Vespian Thoon, and all know what happens with those who have mispleased their leader( they do not off course). It lasted more than 1,5 hours of heavy roleplaying and fun. Among the highlights were when Elbryn, who knows very little of magic, accuses Runegar of stealing his books so that he cannot answer the ghostly tutor, who then verbally attacks Runegar hehe, good fun.
The ghostly tutor then tells him "pupils" that he has something special in store for them. He will summon a devil, the inquisitors of its foul race and demands Rhammon/Runegar to tell him what it is called, he correctly answers an Ice Devil. The ghost then escorts them to the chamber containing the skeletons they saw in the room before. Oblivious to reality he asks of Turun/Elbryn whether he has prepared the circle. He says off course, despite the silver dust is strewn around the room. The ghost looks around and in its mind everything is correct. Rhammon/Runegar even tells the tutor that he had carved infernal runes to better please the summoned devil, the tutor smiles and nods at them. Then suddenly he looks around confused at the part. He looks down at himself only now realizing that he is dead. He asks them of what has happened. they tell him that something went wrong when he tried to summon a devil, or that he was betrayed. He seems openly sad but that changes when Elbryn accuses Vespian Thoon of being responsible for him staying on after death. The mage flies into a frenzy, calling Elbryn Blasphemer and Initiative is rolled.
Wythmord is the first to react. He lifts his holy symbol high in the air and beckons his god to scour this foul undead from the face of the world...... A light, powerful and cleansing erupts from the symbol. A mote of light can be seen inside the body of the ghost!!! It grows and grows until it finally explodes, tearing the ghost from existance...
Death Traps
At the end of the corridor where they found the ghostly tutor they spot a room. It is elingated and black onyx carvings of woman hang on the opposite seides of the room. Once it was r oom of péace and tranquility, now the water is thick with slime and all sorts of fungi cling to the smelly walls. They only thing worth their time is a stone carving depicting a handsome young man. It is the only thing in the room that the fungi do not touch. They detect magic but it is not magical, they continue.
They backtrack and go down a corridor coming to an area where sharp turns and weird angles try to mislead them. Suddenly they hear a wail!!! It is terrible, filled with agonizing pain and hate. They must all save and Runegar is the only one that misses, he chokes for a second and falls dead to the ground. Runegar recognizes the spell contained in the trap, wail of the Banshee. Elbryn sensing that the corridors are probaly laced with traps and runs down the corridor, wanting to set off as many traps as he can.He trusts in his friends magical prowess to deliver him from death should need arise. He is hurt badly by a fallen block trap who tries to reset but is stopped by Talons disable device (aided by Elbryn who hangs on to the trap trying to stop it from resetting)

(30/3-09) 17 flamerule 1373: Return of the Guardian and Ruin chanter advice
Return of the guardian
Elbryn/Rasmus was not present at the session
The defeated ruin chanter laughs and points towards the exit. They see the guardian construct, the Mercurion, advancing on them. "you have been warned, this place will be your tomb" he says and a new inititive is rolled.
The Ruin Chanter hisses at Wythmord " let me flee and i will help you if you survive".Wythmord quickly chants and boosts his allies with a Righteous wrath of the faithfull-spell and, not sensing falsehood, lets the Ruin chanter stand up and flee. Runegar immoliates his friends in a fiery nimbus, fire shield mass and shouts that Wythmord better know what he is doing in letting the former enemy flee. Then the huge Mercurion charges Talon, who is still in dragon shape and connects with a mighty sweep of his axe-blades. Talon is hurt but retaliates with a full attack rending and biting into the enemy. The Mercurions body is burnt away by the fire shield but it instantly regrows its burnt metallic flesh. Tealgar charges the Mercurion but fails to connect with it.
Wythmord moves forward and aids the battered Talon with a Heal spell fully restoring the kobolds hit points. Runegar, having not seen that fire is useless against the construct, lobs a fire ball at it but again it seems unharmed. The Mercurion full attacks Talon and hits twice and Talon does the same, truly a clash of the titans. The Ruin chanter bows at Wythmord and flees, flying at top speed.
Tealgar full atacks the enemy and hits 4 times slashing open wounds in the construct. The combat continues for many rounds with Talon and Tealgar attacking the Mercurion and it retaliating with heavy swipes, inflicting bleeding wounds.
The battle ends when Wythmord have blasted it with sunbeam from a spell and blinded it and Wythmord says that they do not wish to destoy him as he insures no evil creatures does set free the madness and death he is guarding, and insures the construct that they are noble at heart.
The Mercurion responds with a booming telepathic message " I may have misjudged thou, your actions here merit my admiration and i am certain that you have no desire to set free HE WHO BATHES IN MADNESS" Then he demands that they swear not to let the madness be set free or else conbat will commense once again, they all do!!!!!
Wythmord cancels a wall of stone he had erected and lets the defeated construct leave....
Ruin Chanter advice
After the fight they see the ruin chanter advancing. He bows before them and adresses Wythmord, again because he can understand him, and apologizes for the attack. He shouted a warning in sylvan and thought they chose not to respond and were invaders in his home and invaders must be rejected forcefully. Wythmord says to him that in would be a wise choice for him to learn more languages than Sylvan and Terran as combat could be avoided if communication could be established. The ruin chanter, Rhalkoss is his name, agrees but has no intererest in languages, only history. They talk for a while and the Ruin chanter even informs them what is waiting on the next sub-level, Dekanter Goblins. The foul goblinoids serve a greater evil, but which he does not know. The party rests and next day Wythmord stone shapes a warning ,on the mine entreance, in all the languages he knows: Trespassers who are good at heart better know Terran or face the creature living here, evildoers come right in!!!!. Then they continue down the mines.....
They come to an ornate Brass door, Runegar recognizes it as more beatiful than practical and Talon sneaks forward to get a look at the second layer. When back, he informs the party that is smells wet and metallic and the mines are unworked and rough.... Next time : Layer of the Dekanter goblins!!!!

(16/3-09) 17 flamerule 1373: Avalanche, Guardian and Ruin Chanter
Avalanche
Runegar/Peter was not present at this session
On the 7th day they have passed the dreaded mountains and have started their descent down the mountains. The weather is fair as they treck through heavy snow when suddenly Wythmord and Talon hears a faint rumbling. They see an avalanche descending on them traveling 500 ft- pr. round. Wythmord quickly casts a teleport and flees natures wrath with Elbryn . Talon transforms to dragon shape and flies him and Tealgar straight uo to safety. the impending danger was avoided by the clever spellcasters.
the next day they exit the mountains and travel south towards their goal: the mines of dekanter.
Guardian
Three days later they come to the mines. At a distance they see the towering entreance where 50 ft. statues are hidden in deep alcoves. The land surrounding the mine is broken and the only way to the mines are a winding road bordered by bubbling lava pools. The see several polls of molten iron or silver on the road before them, they advance towards the impressive mine entreance.
They suddenly see a man of pure mercury rising from a pool of metal. He is featureless and and 20 ft. tall. They hear a groaning voice in their heads as he communicates by telepathy" I am Seven, the lords of Neutrality have placed me here to guard the mines from tresspassers. You are spokes in a foul wheel and that wheel have been set in motion. Madness and Death must not be set free!!!!" then his arm transforms into axeblades and he stands waiting. The party tries to convince him that they too are trying to stop whatever he is guarding but the Mercurion will hear nothing of it and warns them that if they proceed he will fight them. The succeed in a knowledge (planes) check and recognize him as a lord of the inivietables, a race of constructs created to stop anything that disturbs the natural order of the world. They see the creature a a noble being and decide not to fight him as his cause is just. They leave him but makes sure to see the entreance to the the mine.
They move away from the Mercurion but when away from viewing distance they teleport to the entreance and slips in unnoticed.
Ruin Chanter
Inside they see a vast cavern with a map of the upper level of the mine and a small city long forgotten by time and now a crumbling ruin. They make their way through the debris and pass the ruined buildings passing offices, living quarters, jewelers and stonemasons. They stop at a barrack and decide to investigate, they find nothing but a few coins when they hear a frantis shout. They do not understand the language but senses danger. Elbryn moves out to confront the shouter as they hear another shout. This time on a language Wythmord can understand, Terran, the language of the elemental plane of earth. Someone is shouting that they have invaded his home and now the ruin will become their tomb. At the same time Elbryn sees 2 hulking elementals advancing. They are composed of broken walls, statues and mosiacs, Ruin elementals.
The party responds and make their way to the street. Tealgar and Elbryn charges the elemantals while Wythmord and Talon stands back chanting protective enchantments. Suddenly a figure glides closer, it looks elven and is dressed in tattered clothing and wears a wide-brimmed hat. He sings frantically, boosting the attacks of the elementals. He points a crooked finger at Elbryn and the wood elfs fair hair turns grey and his body seems crooked and bent as if the weight of age have suddenly crippled him. Elbryns mind is torn and he attacks wildly, hitting his friend Tealgar once. The effect ends the round after as Wythmord cancels the confusion with a quick spell. Runegar recognizes the creature as a Ruin chanter, a fey creature who finds nurishment in the history of ruins. The chanter flies over the party and again tries to inflict the wrath on age on the group, but their high saves well yes saves them.
The battle changes as Talon quickly casts one of his favorite spells and transforms into platinium dragon shape and flies up and grapples the Ruin Chanter. Wythmord follows Talons plan and casts silence on the area where the Ruin chanter and the dragon Talon fights ending his bardic music.
The next few rounds the Ruin Chanter is held firm and cut open by the strenght of Talons claws and teeth. The fey tries to inflict Talon with infirmity but to no avail, Talon is just too powerful in his dragon shape and when his ruin elementals have been defeated by Elbryn and Tealgar, he goes limp in Talons jaws.
Talon drops him on the ground while Elbryn threatens him. But then they hear him laughing, he point towards the entreance and talks to Wythmord, who is the only who can understand him " Ha ha ha You may have defeated me but i warned HIM".....

(9/3-09) 16 Flamerule 1373: Halls of the Devil dwarves and Ragewalker
Halls of the Devil-dwarves
After the talk with clanlord Xerec Hellspewer the Lawbringers are shown to a chamber where they can rest. The notice that the mood in the halls are very un-dwarven, more somber and depressing than normally found in the halls of dwarves. Elbryn is certain that the dwarves are evil and it is only a matter of time before they turn completely to wicked ways, the rest of the group are more relaxed and actually feels welcomed by the dwarves.
Rogan, the sentry they first spotted, enter their chamber. He has brought food and sits down to talk for a while. He is keen to know about dwarven women, it has been a long time since he has enjoyed the companionship of females and Clanlord Xerec have forbidden sexual relations as he fears that the devil-blood in them will spread to the children. But nevertheless Rogan desires to know whether they know of attactive dwarves. Runegar tells him that they know of 2. 1 is a prostitute in Silverymoon and the other is Brinna Grimfist who gave Runegar a love letter (see Misc.). He is happy and invites them to see the clanhold, they accept and he will come back in an hour.
An hour later he returns and says that if they want they could leave their weapons, he has posted guards outside and their weapons would be safe. Again Elbryn thinks it a rouse to aliviate them of their weapons and stab them in the back, but both Talon and Wythmord accepts and leaves their weapons.
They are taken to a mineshaft and Rogan tells them that every major mineshaft have its own foundry where the ore is refined and taken to the engineers to be converted into weapons or ammunition for their runecannons. He is proud of the mining-operations and it seems to be extremely efficient.
Next they are shown a large cavern where deep-rothe grass on lichen and fungi. A lake is fenced in behind a wooden barrier. Rogan tells them that this large cavern is large enough to sustain a small herd of Rothe if the fungi is fertilized (with Rothe-shit and water hehe) and is itself a small sustained eco.system of farmer and cultivating the land. Deep in alcoves they see devil-dwarves crouced in caverns guarding their livestock. Rogan hint that this assignment is the worst in the clanhold.
The next cavern is a series of caves, smelling of steel and sulphur, each contained engineers who craft spare parts for the runecannons as well as weapons and mundane items. They are impressed by the craftmanship and dedication the dwaven engineers have in creating the most minute details on the runecannon barrels and stocks. They are shown a chamber where they meen a somewhat crazy engineer tasked with inventing new types of ammunition. The engineer loves sulphur and explosions and his crazy rammblings sound both dangerous and somewhat unrealistic, but the crazed engineer is certain that enough sulphur will do the trick.
Next they are shown the hall of heroes, a smelly room where old clan-scribes have gathered the collected story of the clan as well as a detailed biography of all 6000 dwarves who left Delzoun, a mighty lorehouse of knowledge indeed. Rothe-fat candles illuminate this room and Rogan shows them a balnk spot on the dethek-rune covered walls and tells them, eyes full of hope, that the blank spot is reserved for when their clan kill the Solar Arram and reclaim their place in the halls of their gods. The lawbringers ask if one of the scribes will join them in their chamber when the tour is over, perhaps they know something of their destination Dekanter, one of them agree.
As they pass a guarded passage thay see a hunched figure, dwarven, hidden behing a thick rope. the figure looks at them and hisses: Remember!!! to a guard and hurries inside a rusting metal gate where others of its brethren usher it inside. Runegars asks Rogan who that were and Rogan tells them that they are the Holy Ones. Dwarves who pary the only god willing to embrace them. They are the dwarves who have sacrificed the most to help the clan and are the ones that will not be able to enter the halls of the dwarven gods, as they willingly have chosen to pray to a another deity. They are lost, but also revered for this sacrifice. He does not know which deity they pray to, but know they are neccesary to help the clan survive in these hard times.
Next on the tour is a series of caves where the walls are lined with cages, ropes, chains, net-shooters and the like. a group of devil-dwarves, rogues and fighters stand laughing and joking, Rogan tells them this is the favorite assignment of many of the dwarves: Beasttamers!!! They capture mountains critters who are placed in the arena where the dwarves will sharpen their fighting skills against them. The meet a couple of joking devil-dwarves who tells them that the hunt was good, 6 goblins, an ogre an an ettin. After the leave they pass the arena and Rogan tells them that several dwarves have advocated against the arena thinking that appeals more to their devil blood than the dwarven.
As they come back to their chamber they see that their weapons are gone and Rogan slams the door shouting hurry hurry. The party senses deception, a emotion they are quite used too, and initiative is rolled.
Runegar acts first and quickly bars the door with a wall of force spell. Wythmord boosts their defenses with a protective prayer and the rest draw weapons and prepare for the onslaught.
The door opens and a dwarven Engineer stands before the door, their weapons lying on a shield. The weapons have been sharpened and groomed and look even better than they did brand new. The engineer advances and drops the weapons as he bounces off Runegars wall of force. Rogan touches the wall and looks surprised but then quickly apologizes for the event, their devilish appearence and the missing weapons must have been enough to think that the dwarves had more sinister motives at mind. The Lawbringers also apologizes and they quickly make amense.
The scribe arrives later and they ask about Dekanter. He tells them apx. 50 years before Netherils destruction the mines were closed. the Arcanists of Netheril closed them and conducted grim experiments in the mines. But legends have it that the miners delved too deep and something was set free and began killing arcanists. The experiments ceased and the mine was closed off but adventures have always sought out Dekanter but the only survivors were madmen exiting the mines mumbling: Thoon Thoon!!!!
Next Day they leave the halls of the devil dwarves and say goodbay to Rogan who had followed them out. As they turn to leave Rogan says that he has a feeling that he will be seeing them again.
Ragewalker
On the fifth day they come to a broad dwarven built bridge spanning a deep chasm. Dwarven scouts cut in stone looks towards the other side of the bridge, grasping weapons. They spot the remains of a battle, dried corpses and rusted weapons. The air in the mountains have conserved the corpses and they recognize orcs and dwarves.
As they come to the middle of the bridge a large humanoid advances flanked by 2 oozes of pure cold. The humanoid is clad in a delicate tight fitting armor and around him weapons fly. In his hands he bears a spiked chain which seems almost alive.
The figure is the first to react and moans: Long have it been, fight me, feed me, for too ling have i hungered"!!! and then it charges Talon and crits him for 34 in damage. As he gets nearer, Talon and Tealgars head are filled with thoughts of pure bloodlust. Talon succumbs to the thoughts and desires nothing but slaughter, but Tealgar succeeds and banishes the dark thoughts from his mind. The Ragewalker(mm5) then quickly summons a blade barrier to aid him in slaying the heroes. It spins around him protecting the fearsome fey. Then the combat basically ends, Runegar "The armored mage" Darkrift throws 2 spells at the Fey creature: Assay Spell resistance (which grants +10 to overcome spellresistance) and greater slide. He penetrates the spell resistance of the Ragewalker who then must succeed in a will save or be pushed 4 squares. He rolls a 4 and 19 total!!!! He fails and is pushed through his own bladebarrier cutting open his armor and flesh, and is sent tumbling down the chasm. We roll damage for fun and he takes 154 in damage from the blade barrier and the fall. Next round Talon fies into a mad bloodlust but he is not a warrior and a round later he snaps out of it.
The 2 oozes are no trouble and the combat ends a couple of rounds later. Runegar is severely pleased with himself and makes sure everyone saw the mighty display of Wizardry, they did....

(2/3-09) 13 Flamerule 1373: Behold a Beholder, Purple worm and Devil Dwarves
Behold a Beholder
Runegar/Henrik and Telagar/Peter was not present for this session
The party trecked on and, when passing some stalactite formations, Talon spots a huge eye on the a stalactite and warned his friends, initiative was rolled.
Wythmord warded the party with a shield of faith mass. Then the Ropers acted and moves closer throwing sticky tentacles at the party enveloping Elbryn. He feels his strengt being sapped away but resisted it via a succesful save. Talon also protects the group by a recicitation spell and moved away from the foul abberrations. Elbryn attacked a ropers and foul black sprayed the ground as it was hit hard. Suddenly a chitin covered sphere of flesh and eyes emerges from a cave entreance, a Beholder. It attacks Talon with a ray but the cloistered cleric succeeded in his save and was spared a grim death. The beholder opened its central eye and the party felt their magical protections being swept away by the anti-magic field.
Wythmord and Elbryn moves away from the central eyes field and dimension doors to the other side of the beholders lair, away from its eyes. Elbryn creps closer awaiting the right opprtunity to attack the master of the Ropers. The ropers attacked the pressed Talon but he managed to avoid serious harm and moves away from the antimagic casting a mislead spell, cloaking himself in invisibility. The beholder could not fire at any party members and moved away to awaiting a target.
Then Elbryn sprang into action hitting the foul orb with an elder mountain hammmer. the blow revealed the fleshy insides of the beast and he saw that a fleshy gas-filled blatter filling most of its inner body. The beholder, bleeding and wounded fires a black ray at Elbryn, finger of Death. It hits the Elven Warblade on the shoulder and he falls to the ground, stone-dead( a natural 1 on his save). It then closes its central eye. Wythmord, being ever resourcefull, sees the death of his friend and uses a magical item and gets an extra move action which enables his to move up to Elbryn and cast revenancer, a spell which allows the recipient to remain living for 1 minute pr. level. Talon ,now free from the pesky anti magic cone and invisible, casts his most cool spell: Aspect of the platinum Dragon and where Talon stood now stands a huge glittering dragon, invisible though. He power- attacks a roper and bites its head off spewing hot black ichor high in the air.
Wythmord moves away and attacks the Beholder with a fireball scorching its side. The beholder opens its eye and looks at Elbryn, now fully understanding Wythmords spell, but wanting Elbryn to stay dead and looks at him with its central eye and Elbryn again dies hehe. Then it discharges 4 rays at Wythmord who luckily saves and avoids certain death. The last Roper creeps closer but are to far away to attack any character. Talon, in dragon-shape, flies closer to the Beholder and tears off a chunk of its flesh with a savage bite. the Beholder is in dissarray, obviously a new opponent has come to the partys aid but if its looks at the new enemy Elbryn will come back to life.
Wythmord heals himself and moves further away from the Beholder. The beholder bites at Elbryn and moves away from Talon but is hit hard by the attack of opportunity by the dragon-Kobold. Talon rips into the Beholder clawing and rending, entrails and blood flies everywhere and when he is finished the shredded Beholder lies dead on the ground. He continues next round and when the combat is finished he alone have killed All opponents, nice job!!!!
After the combat they set camp...
Purple Worm
At 7 in the morning Elbryn hears something and moves away from the camp to investigate. From the darkness he sees a huge puple worm crwling nearer, its keen senses sensing prey. He shouts a warning and draws his sword.
Elbryns sword flashes 4 times and each attack showers the ground with gore, 156 in damage in a single round and needless to say the worm is hurt badly. The worm attacks Elbryn and picks him off the ground churning his flesh with shark-like teeth. Wythmord and Talon both casts Shield of Faith, yes the last one has no effect hehe. But Talon Quickly( Quicken spell and divine metamagic) casts freedom of movement and tries to help the grappled Elbryn but misses the elf.
Next Round Elbryn invokes a power granted by a series of items and slips from the grasp of the worm. then he attacks it and crits it dealing 129 in a single blow, the worm is cut in half and they watch it squirm on the ground, dead.
Devil Dwarves
On the third day in the mountains, while traveling alongside a cliffface they spot a crouching figure. They shout a warning to it and it stands up. It seems to be a dwarf clad in a black robe. He wields a huge rune covered cannon and introduces himself as Rogan Hellspewer. He tells them that a storm is coming but his clan is friendly and would welcome visitors and they would have a warm bed and some stew as they wait out the storm. He throws down a rope ladder and they ascend the cliffs (Talon falls down 1 time though hehe)
As they treck further up the cliffs they see that Rogans robe is in fact black bats-wings. Wythmord, being inquisitor at heart, detects evil but fails to detect anything. They come to a metal-gate and pass some, also bat-winged, guards who informs that Rogan should take them to the Clan leader Xerec. They walk deeper into the mountain, passing devil dwarves as they venture deeper into the halls.
They are escorted by grim-looking guards and come to a huge hall lined with skulls and bones as well as dethek runes describing each fallen devil dwarfs deeds and history. On a rusting metal-throne a dwarf sits. His skin is red-scaled and eyes red as well. His wings are tattered and flayed giving him an wicked appearence. The dwarven lord welcomes them to the halls of the Hellspewers and wants to know of the dwarven people of the North. they tell him that the dwarves are making a comeback and Mithral Hall, Adbar and Fellbar are securely in dwarven hands. The news excite the lord and he seems overly pleased with the news. The Lawbringers decide to ask why the Hellspewers look like they do. He says that they have eaned the right to know as they are the beares of the best news in years:
When Delzoun was powerful ( 2100 years ago) their clan, the Greyhammers of Delzoun, decided to follow the Solar, Arram, to hell bent on conquest. The reason behind this drastis step was that Delzoun had, over the years, suffered greatly as devil-led orc hordes had swept against it and here was an opportunity to kill the evil at its root.
Arram was the arch-enemy of Asmodeus, the lord of Hell and he was to be killed. 6000 dwarves 10000 humans followed Arrams as well as countless archons and Angels in the crusade. The campaign went well and after a year the first layer was taken, thousends of devils slain. Then a stalemate came, the devils held the second layer but did not try to retake the first layer, the good aligned conquerers mistook it as a sign of weakness and continued to lay siege to the second layer.
Years went by and Delzoun fell, the dwarves were suddenly cut off from their gods as they had decided to stay and not go back to aid Delzoun in its final struggle. But that was not the worst, the evil of the lower planes were changing the good aligned army, more and more fell to the sway of evil and combat between former friends were commenplace.
Even the angels and archons were different, angry and sad and filled with unbridled fury. The humans fell first, their clerics have turned to the worship of evil gods and a gigantic battle ensued. They were cut down to a man in a battle which spawned a river of blood, the dwarves cried tears of sorrow as they cut down former friends, former allies in the battle now known as the battle of Tears.
Arram, Solar and Champion of the gods of Light, realized to late what was happening and as he came to the conclusion that his actions have costs the lives of thousends, he wandered away from his camp muttering insanities and foul curses lost beyond redemption.
The campaign ended in violence, as friend fought friend.....
The campaign had lasted more than 150 fifty years but the dwarves that had not turned to evil wore the evil without, their bodies had over the years been infused with pure evil and their appearence was that of the lower planes, warped and wicked. The remaining dwarves changed their clanname and sought new employers. They hired themselves out to whoever promised them the most devil-blood.
71 years ago the lord of the clan died and clan lordship fell to Xerec. He remembered the old ways and sought out what they had not had in many generations: HOPE!!!! He slew the most depraved dwarves and bought passage for his men to the prime material plane of Toril. Here they remain knowing that only one thing would welcome them back in the arms of the dwarven fathers, a thing they most desperately seek: The death of Arram, the Solar responsible for their clans fall from grace.....

(23/2-09) 13 Flamerule 1373: Interesting friends and departure
Interesting friends
The mighty Lawbringers find themselves in the beatiful city of Loudwater. They are fully rested and exit the city traveling in wind form towards their destination Dekanter. The see the omnious looking high forest in the distance but quickly lay some distance between them and it. Four hours out the the mighty Grey peak mountains in the distance, snow clinging to its peaks and know that they must travel over the mountains to reach their destination. At the foot og the mountains they see a city, strong and with heavy walls, Llork.
As they come to the gates blackclad guards offend the 2 dwarves by calling their race cowards. The heated discussion is ended by a sergeant who disciplines his men and welcomes them to Llork. Wythmord informs the party that all of the men had the stench of evil on them. Inside the city they see a lot of guards and warehouses but few residents. The few they spot quickly close shutters or enter their houses, a dour mood fills the city. They know that a map of the mountains will help them and they are shown to the Tantarn Inn where a group of adventurers are located, perhaps they know of a map. The come to 2 newly constructed inn, one of which is the Tantarn Inn. They enter the barn like inn and look around. a few merchants are sipping at wine glasses and a group of adventures are likewise drinking and eating. They spot the barkeep, a friendly fellow names Carvis, and ask him if the adventurers are friendly. he says yes and they make their way to their table. They introduce themselves and a half-elf in fiery robes greet them His name is Lhael and he introduces his party. They are called the Brazen Shields and beside himself consists of Rhannon, an illuskan cleric of Tempus, a theskian fighter named Piotar and a halfling rogue called silent Jezz from Scounubel.
Then follows almost 2 hours of roleplaying where they drink and laugh with their new friends. They also manage to buy a map from the incredible greedy halfling who also, for some coins, tells them a grissly story about their destination: Even before the end of the realm of netheril, the mines of Dekanter were abandoned. Some story says that they delved to far and and unleashed something in the mines. Adventurers have always sought out the mines but only a few have returned, driven insane by something sinister, only mumbling the word Thoon, Thoon!!!!!
They learn that Piotar and Lhael are from Thesk and friends from childhood and founders of the party. The lawbringers also wants to know why the guards are so hostile towards dwarves but the Brazen Shields only know that the animosity stems from the lord of the city who has a grudge against the dwarves as they all left the city some years ago, but the Brazen Shields do not know the reason.
The Brazen Shields are working for the lord, excavating ruins. They know only that he is a petty tyrant, who in his desire to protect the city have become somewhat harsh on the commen folk, but they think he means well and he is not violent only over-protecting.
the night comes and they turn in for the night after several of their new friends have had a tad too much to drink. Well the Lawbringers have had a few as well hehe.
Departure
Next morning they meet up with the mounted Brazen Shields. They ask of their mounts and when the party says they are using wind walk they glare angrily at their cleric. Appearently Rhinnon can cast it but will not proclaiming that his god favors the use of their legs instead of always doing things the easy way. They laugh and share stories for the next 4 hours. Then they see their new friends off as they are going another direction.
Then they enter the craggy mountains but find themselves wandering several hours in the wrong direction (Talon have +10 survival but fail the dc. 15 several times hehe) All in all they have traveled 2 hours in the right direction....

(16/2-09) 5 Flamerule 1373: Beliard, Were-giants and Loudwater
Beliard
Wythmord/claus was not present at the session, as something came up
The Lawbringers search the steelwings nest and find a rough metal egg. Runegar knows that it can be trained when it hatches and knows that it will hatch in roughly 30 days. Runegar and Tealgar decides that the opportunity to ride a Steelwing must not be missed and teleport back to Silverymoon wanting to find an animal trainer. Elbryn and Talon stay in the city.
They also spend time with the sad farmer easing his pain as his family have been killed by the Steelwing.
In Silverymoon Tealgar and Runegar sends a messenger to the market and he comes back with three animal trainers. 2 of them leave immidiately as the task is much more than they can handle. The third, a young druid, also turns them down but tells them that a memeber of his circle probaly can train the huge bird. He returns 5 days later with an elderly elven druid who accepts the task and returns to the silver woods promising to return when the task is complete.
Back in boring Olostins hold they gather their party members and return to wind form and leave the village.
A day later they enter the horse-farmer village of Beliard and find the inn, the scarlet shield. The stupid innkeeper offers them free lodging and food if they are able to entertain the bored merchants with a tale or something. Tealgar "the storyteller" Bronzebeard gladly accepts and spins a tale of how the Gold dwarfs entered the North (see Tealgars history in Characters). The merchants are surprised at his skill at storytelling and the performance gathers quite a crowd ( perform 25 mind you!!!)
Next day they leave Beliard.
were giants
While traveling east towards their destination Dekanter an ugly hill giant blocks the way " Kronk wants gold or Kronk crushess" the giant demands. They consider why the normally CE giant have not attacked allready. Elbryn shouts " for this transgression you will pay with your life giant" and initiative is rolled.
Runegar reacts first and readies an action to "if the giant move" and then Tealgar axe charges hitting the giant with a thundering crit dealing apx. 50 in damage. The giant roars in pain and shouts in giant " Brothers of the boar, enemies are here, slay them!!!!" and 3 hidden ugly giants emerge from the rocks. Their features are warped and reveal several boar like features, were-boars. The giant shouting also transforms into hybrid form. 2 of the were boars surround Tealgar hitting him with small trees, doing an impressive amount of damage, and the last moves closer to the rest of the party. Talon quickly casts 2 spells that boosts their ACs with apx. 5, recicitation and shield of faith mass. Elbryn snarls and strikes the advancing hill giant with a crit!!!! 82 in damage and almost cuts off the giants arm at the shoulder shouting "surrender or loose the other arm". Runegar casts greater invisibility as the giants springs into action through his readied spell.
Next round Runegar traces a rune on his armor and draws forth a bolt of electricity. He lets it loose on a hill giant, then it arcs and hits 2 others dealing 22 in damage to them all. Tealgar power attacks and hits the damaged giant 3 times damaging the giant severely. The giants snarl and roar and unleashes a barrage of attacks on Tealgar and Elbryn. They are hit hard, especially Elbryn who has apx. 120 in damage and his body looks like it has been through hell. Talon responds to his friends broken form and casts heal on Elbryn who thanks the kobold/dragon by cutting down his opponent with furious chops.
Runegar moves closer to the fray and traces a fiery rune hitting a giant 3 times with an empowered scorching ray, punching crimson holes through his chest, killing him. Tealgar is pressed and uses an item and swiftly dimensions door to Talons side and heals himself with lay-on-hands. The 2 remaining giants respond to their targets escape by charging and snorting hitting Tealgar and Elbryn but this time they cannot attack multiple times and they suffer only "minor" wounds. Talon casts a new spell and his small body convulses, streches, and finally a huge aspect of his god Bahamut stands before the giants. Cool spell....Elbryn tumbles through the crowd and hits a giant with an elder mountain hammer, but poor damages rolls mean that it survives.
Runegar tries to finish off a giant by a disitegrate spell but the giant saves and survives. The fully healed Tealgar kills a giant by furious chops and the last one falls the next round being assulted by dragon claws, axe and greatsword....
Loudwater
Next day at the end of the day they pass horse farms and soon enter the beautiful city of Loudwater where the streets are tangle moss and no 2 buildings look the same. They find an Inn, the watchfull knight and turn in for the night.

(2/2-09) 4 Flamerule 1373: Follower of a dead god and the Iron Bird
follower of a dead god
The Lawbringers have spent 43 days in Silverymoon listening to rumors of the Nesme campaign and crafting the right stuff for their characters, well most of the time crafting. They are in their rooms as a knock on the door is heard.
They open the door and find a nervous seargeant of the city guard. He introduces himself and tells them that the guard have discovered something that should interest the mighty Lawbringers ( they have earned quite a reputation during their career)
They follow the guard to a tallhouse where several guards have been posted. They are led to the upper apartment. A burly captain is expecting them and opens the door telling them that they should have a look inside.
Inside they see a room with have been searched and and older man, unkept and wld-haired, lies dead on the floor his neck cut open. They investigate but find nothing until the captain informs them if the palm of the victim. They turn it over and find the name of their group carved into the hand multiple times, many of the scar have healed over and nust have been carved many weeks ago. The captain says that the locals call him Pai Narsus and he is the local madman. He also shows the group the only things they have found: A religious sundisc ( Amanautor the Netherese god of the sun and foresight) and ancient gols coins from Netheril.
Then the speculations start and they center, strangely enough, on that the dead man must be a archwizard or a time traveler coming from the golden days of Netheril. They are surprised to why the name of the group have been etched into the dead mans hand but a follower of a god whose portfolio is foresight probaly has a trick up his sleeve. Wythmord summons a nature spirit from an item but is knows nothing of the man and the attempt was futile. They talk to the captain and decide to stay the night while posted guards will guard the premises.
Next morning Wythmord, fully rested and re-memorized, casts speak with dead and asks the dead madman several questions. I have gathered the questions and answers here, easily broken down. The answers are cryptic, as i love but the players hate hehe. The questions and answers have compiled and added for easy reference here:
As the questions are finished they are confused and have no other option than to travel to the mines of Dekanter as is the only real lead they have to finding the killers and stop their unknown plot. They know that the mines were very productive during the Netherese era but now they are only ruins and probaly dangerous.
the iron bird
They transform into wind shapes by Wythmords Wind walk spell and travel southwards toward the mines of Dekanter.
The weather is fine and soon they pass the white walls of Everlund, a city similar in disposition towards races as Silverymoon and known for its sizeable elven community. They make good time and pass caravans and merchants on the road. At nightfall they see a sign pointing to a city: Olostins hold!!! and further up the road the enter the walled city. They find the only inn in the city and order food and lodging.
Suddenly the door of the inn opens. A cattle farmer enters the inn shouting that his wife and son have disapperared. Being the heroes that they are they spring into action and investigate. They learn that he had brought cattle to the city and when he returned he found bloody smears but no family.
They go with the farmer, Cleth, and after an hour come to his remote farm. They find the bloodstains and follow the bloody trail leading away from the farm.
They come to a broken area where a single spire stands. Cleth tells them it is called Dead Mans Hand and , according to rumors, have been the site where savages in the past sacrificed humanoids to unknown gods.
They decide that the fast approach is the easiest and teleport to the top of the spire. But before that several spells have been casts to protect them, fire shield mass, invisibility and several others. Sitting amidst the remains of the farmers family is a huge iron-like bird. Its feathers are pure metal and its beak gleams in the soft light. It shrieks and initiative is rolled.
The Steelwing is the first to react and swoops past the party its metal feathers damaging as it pass. Then it stops and flutters is huge wings and a hail of silver feathers hit the party, 58 in damage, some save but both Wythmord and Runegar miss their saves.
Elbryn, seeing the bird being far away, draws his bow and hits the bird. He is surprised as the arrow bounces off is metallic scales, the bird is heavily protected by its tough feathers. Runegar, invisible and hurt, fires his wand of magic missiles at the creature and hits it for 17 damage. He also, via a knowledge arcana roll, know that it is a native of the plane of Archeron where it preys on fiends and their ilk. Wythmord uses his magical belt and heals himself. Then something uber-cool happens, Tealgar launches himself through the air and tries to grapple the beast by clinging to its neck. He hits the beast but the creature is huge and beyond his capability and he tumples to the ground hitting it with a huge clank. Even though the attempt was futile i love it, as it was inventive and must have looked cool, very imaginative Henrik/Tealgar.
Next round the bird fly-by-attacks Elbryn ,cutting open his elven body with its metal-beak. But that action was followed by a flash of fire from Elbryns fire shield searing the bird. They also see that the wounds on its body are closing fast( fast healing). Elbryn readies a standard action to deliver a foul slash to the creature should it again decide to attack him. Runegar moves away and fires a sickly green ray at the beast, but misses with his disentegrate spell. Wythmord heals Elbryn with healing spell and tealgar stands up and moves closer to the spire readying grappling hook and rope.
The tough bird have recharged its feather attack and attack the spire hitting Wythmord and Elbryn, but Runegar and Tealgar are safe from the massive attack. Elbryn and Wythmord are caught in the whirwlwind of steel and suffer 52 in damage, hurting them severely. Elbryn have readied an standard action and uses it to drop prone, playing possum. Wythmord moves closer to the edge and lets himself fall, wanting to draw the bird closer to the ground but hurting himself in the process. Tealgar starts climbing but the stout dwarf have difficulties climbing and moves slowly.
The bird, not being that intelligent, sees that Elbryn is "dead" and Runegar is invisible, reasons that its only foes are on the ground and swoops down attacking Tealgar, but misses him. Bad idea!!! Elbryn comes flying through the air chopping at the bird with his sword. His attck hits and it was a warblade maneuver: Ancient mountain hammer which does +9d6 in damage and ignores DR, 70 in damage !!!! he is closely folllowed by Runegar and a lightning discharge doing apx. 40 in damage to the stupid bird. Wythmord senses the birds mistake and uses his belt of battle and throws 2 fireballs at it scorching it with raw flames, but the tough bird survives the fiery onslaught.
The its doom near, it have moved too close to the players and is within chopping range, it dies in the next round killed by a violent chop from Elbryn.
